The BBB looks sweet
Neat!
On the Bossnut small modifications (and 1x11), on the 1.4 k Beastnut a thru bolt on the rear now. The Beastnut is now the top notch Calibe bike - in normal production...(available from June?)
Appears like there is still the mount for the front mech. Means still possible to run the good old Deore 2x10...
Guess the new Beastnut will be a fantastic bike - but if Calibre stays with the 1 k price tag for the Bossnut "Evo" this is lots and lots of bike for this money...
Good luck to the Calibre team! Great that such a company is around!!!
Normally I would be pissed off as I had just bought the bossnut on Christmas eve. I had so much fun on it a couple of weeks ago at Glentress I don't care about the new upgrades. The fact I only paid £850 For it helps. It's also more than capable of doing what I need
On saying that. Love the colour scheme on the BBB
Nothing wrong at all with the Bossnut V2!
Fun: yes - that's the goal with mountain biking!
Had a great, great trip two weeks ago in fresh snow. Now I'am stuck behind the oven - too cold wind and too much ice on the forest roads.
Bike development and "new stuff": there will be always new stuff. I like it. But also like the stuff I have and like to keep it going. The companies have to invent all the time new models to stay in the market. That's o.k..
Not too sure if I would be happy with the SRAM NX 1x11.
SRAM builds good stuff like brakes, forks and similar - but for drive trains I stick with Shimano. The looks of 1x11 is great. And some hate 2x drive trains due to chain drop. But I really like 2x11 or 2x10 much more. And the Deore 2x10 is so much bang for the buck.
But matter of taste I guess!
This winter: I tried to bike as much as I could. Have several bikes going right now - they are all fun. The Bossnut V2 is one of them - and like it a lot!
Think those look really sorted machines that represent great value.
Being a newbie I still can't get my head around the advantages of 1x11 over say 2x10

You press a button and it shifts. No need to plan ahead which ring to be in etc.
More ground clearance (if you keep the same overall top gear a 30t chainring on a 10t sprocket is the same as a 33t on a 11t)
Less weight (even the dinner plate 42t weighs less than a granny ring, front mech, cabling and shifter)
Reliability; front mechs always seem to be the first thing to get clogged with mud and 1x chainrings don't drop the chain.
TBH I went 1x9 years ago and haven't missed front mechs. Back then it was just for the reliability and you had to just stand and mash the pedals to get up hills as the lowest you could get was 32-32.
Cheers for that. Makes sense I suppose
Guess the only fact: 3 x 10 is outdated (?!)
Advantage of 1x11: simplicity? Less weight? And some - expensive solutions like e*thirteen (example: 2018 YT Jeffsy and Capra) even have the range like a 2x11? Less chain drop?
2x10 or 2x11: "more range for less money"? Most likely less suffering when going uphill...?
Interesting so: the very expensive solution - the 1x12 SRAM - turns out to be very "touchy" it seems. One day biking and one hour readjusting / tweaking...?
For bike designers / for new bike designs to get rid of the front mech is an advantage I guess - for example to make wider tires possible or to make the suspension work better.
But biking in a group of bikers which have 1x11, 2x10 and 2x11 I only see chain drop as a potential problem of 2x drive trains. The 1x11 bikers are not faster but they suffer more (uphill) I have the impression... for me it's a bit of a fashion thing...
But I might be wrong so. Maybe the 1x11 e*thirteen solution (together with Shimano rear mech) will drop in price soon - lots of range, less complexity, little money... - well this would be good then! (but not SRAM NX or so...?! At least in my opinion)
Triple BBB looks a real bargain if they can match the price of the Beastnut - £1300? I think. The Bossnut is crying out for upgrades which will easily push it over the cost of the Beastnut.
That BBB looks fantastic fantastic.... and fantastic value too.👍
For those worried about the NX drive train it is already well proven and well rated in magazines/ online.
Bought the V2 a month ago nd most of the chages on this new bike ive already done. Its such a a capable fun bike in all its guises i wont even be able to touch its performance levels.
