I have a new 29 Sonder Evol frame to build up. I have some of the recent PSA RS Pike select+ 29 boost forks to use.
I dont have a boost wheelset, but do have a pr of Hope Hoops 29 enduro wheels in great condition. Now i got a top deal on a rear Hope Fortus 26 boost wheel, but im wondering what to do for the front.
I could add some boost spacers to the front wheel i have, but i think its about 21mm internal width. Id like to run a 2.4 or 2.5 in the front and i thought it may make the bike handle oddly with a 26mm rim on rear?
I can get a boost Fortus 23 at a good price if that would mqke much difference? Or should i dig deep and buy something else new for the front? Any recommendations or glaring stuoidity in my train of thought?
Thanks
Ah, i also need to take the debonair forks from 130 to 150mm, so if anyone has an unloved air spring in 150mm flavour i would be interested....
Cheapest decent option would be a new rim. If it has the same erd then swapping it over is an easy DIY job. Then get the right end cap for your hub to boost it. That said might be less hassle to sell the Hoops and buy something new with the money.
If means allow go for a 27-30mm internal.
It will be much more flexible in tyres than a skinny rim.
(I just stock a 2.5 maxxis on a 23mm internal and its not pretty or something I'd want to do longer term... )
A new rim rebuild and a Hope boost adapter which is just a driveside end cap that's 10mm longer and costs about a tenner.
Or sell your wheel and buy new one, whatever is the cheapest option.
Hope do end caps which convert non boost front hubs to boost. I’ve done exactly this recently on a pair of Hope Enduro 29 wheels, going from non-boost to boost Pikes. The wheel needs re-dishing though (I got my local bike shop to do it).
So a fortus 30 at the front would be a good choice?
If i run a 2.5 front and a 2.4 on a Fortus 26 rear?
I like the endcap idea, but i will then have a 21mm internal front rim which i think will make a 2.5 tyre look a bit odd.
Wasn't the enduro 23mm, you might get away with it, if not then change it, but try adapter first with a 5mm re-dish.

That’s a DH wheel, and is crazy heavy.
Isn't there two fortus 30 versions now.
I just came to the thread to s**** at boosting your front end.

Depends on your weight requirements ... one thing I'd consider if doing it cheap is a rim with a similar ERD so you can basically swap the hubs and spokes under (assuming the spokes are in good condition) not only is it considerably cheaper but its way quicker and easier just tape the spokes and transfer in one go.
I'd still be trying to get wider than your current as it just gives more options on tyres without them being balloons.
