After much umming and ahhing I ordered myself a Jamis Renegade Expat as my general do everything "not a Mountain Bike".

Couldn't have picked a better morning for a first ride, it was cold and crisp with dry roads and frozen mud.

No issues on the first ride, aside from possibly the saddle which might get swapped out for a Charge Spoon.
The steerer wil get chopped down when I'm 100% certain on bar height.

I rather like it, it zips along tarmac a decent rate and 35mm tyres are nice on gravel tracks.

It's got a few nice little details like a pump peg behind the headtube and binder bolt rather that seat clamp.
The seatpost was 300mm cheap Ritchey which at my preferred height whilst technically OK seemed a bit on the short side, I swapped for an On-One twelfty from a mate for a little more post in frame insurance.

Looking forward to doing some big rides on it, including the Tour of the Black Country.

Could I be so bold as to ask your inside leg measurement and the size frame you went for?
How do you find reach on that long top tube?
Thanks

What's the difference between this and a cx bike?

The pump looks very neat. The Velominati would approve.

It's a 56cm frame and I'm 6ft and a bit with a 32in inside leg. However I have been reliably informed I have my saddle too high ((lemond calculation backs this up) so I will be slowly lowering by an inch or so.
Reach feels bang on but all i have to compare it too is a one size too big road bike and lots of mtbs.

LE6 here, I think you'd find this type of bike bang on.

I believe so, SKS Chromoplastics I think fit.

Compared to a CX race bike? Bit lower BB, bit slacker, bit longer wheelbase, road chainset rather than CX one.

Rob, I think a period of adjustment is needed, bit in general the position feels good!

Eh?
Why? I'm just shy of 6ft, and ride a 56cm.. It's spot on with 44cm bars, and a 120mm stem.

Nick, I think it was a reference to my user name and my height! 😉
