A mate has the 27.5" Strive and had a few issues with the Shapeshifter and doesn't really use it now.
IF it doesn't have top be carbon how about the Radon Swoop? The '10' is a fantastic spec for the money.

Depends how long you want to wait as most of the 29 Capras are out of stock. I kind of think that looking at the Strive it seems closer to the new carbon Jeffsy than the Capra.

I've had a capra and a strive.

Capra is for sure the "bigger bike", more DH focused, feels burly, very confidence inspiring but worse to pedal. Very easy on the maintenance. If they still come with the E13 dropper then that will need replacing after a few wet rides.

Strive can still handle the bigger features but its more balanced and nicer to pedal around.
The shapeshifter is annoying, it will break at some point, and then its replace (£100) or put a modefixxer in. The shapeshifter takes the strive from "meh" climbing geo to "meh" descending geo, its not amazing. Its also another thing to mess around with when you drop in. Having said that, its a nice snappy bike, and it will be able to handle everything you throw at it.

If you're going to do a lot of uplift then I'd get the capra. If most/all of your rides involve a good amount of ascent then get the strive.

The Capra is a monster. If it didn't exist i'd probably have a Tues to give you an idea of my intentions with it. I don't really care for pedalling all that much but it doesn't seem to bob when spinning and that's with a coil

I have a 2018 27.5 capra and I've done big days and big mileage rides on it so it's perfectly capable of that sort of stuff, but it is definitely harder work. I think the 29er has a different tune to the shock which makes it a better pedaller so that's something to consider.

the 29ers leverage curve has slightly more ramp up than the 27.5. I think both Capras are the most progressive of any bike already! Not sure on shock tune though.

Some people note this as being harsh - indeed my 29er with 170mm travel and a coil at 35% sag feels no more plush than my previous 155mm patrol on air at 33% sag. It is absolutely bottomless though.

If I was into spending more money than I needed to i'd get a 180mm dual crown fork for it too!
