You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Well anyone who knows me knows of my passion for all things Italian, all things Ducati, it's what everyone back from VD days knew me as, the fat bloke with the Ducati.
I'm not quite as fat any more... however I do now own a Ducati again.
If you've ever read a write up I've done on the 1098 I test rode you'd know I truly adored it... I mean properly wanted one... The 848 is of course it's baby brother... but this has been breathed on a little and putting out 140bhp with a blueprinted engine.
to say I'm happy with this one is beyond an understatement... it's truly for me a dream bike....
I'm SOOOOO excited about Portimao now 🙂

I haven't got a clue what it is, but it looks very nice, you need to take better photos though!
Purely track day machine? Or will you be "making progress" on A roads this summer? (No judgement implied or meant).
I stopped riding big bikes many moons ago as it was heading towards an enforced sabbatical or I was going to become one with the scenery. A big Ducati was on my wish list back then, enjoy.
It has a V5 so will get road use too yes, need to work out what the local MOT bloke needs to get it through MOT first, but yes will be on the roads occasionally.
Mostly track though.
Nice 😀
Seems Dovi and Iannone like their new bikes too. Portimao is a fantastic facility, not riden there yet.
all things Ducati, it's what everyone back from VD days knew me as
You are Banana Boy? 🙂
What happened to that Tuono, I get the feeling I'm not keeping up.
Cripes, that's a lot of bike.
Have fun on it, don't come down my way on it though, looks too fast for Hamphires lanes 😆
Had a play on a standard 848 a while ago and preferred it for road riding compared to 1098, that looks very very sweet. Enjoy.
What happened to that Tuono, I get the feeling I'm not keeping up.
That went ages ago and was replaced by a GSXR750K6... that's gone in an exchange/cash swap for this 848.
That is bloomin lovely
I've got the same flooring as you in my mancave, does yours swell and bulge in the summer heat also?
Nice bike btw.
Some lovely upgrades, looks great.
I've got a 1098s for the road and a 748 track bike, prefer the 748's handling.
I reckon the 1098 needs offset yokes.
Couple more in the other fairing kit

Picking it up first thing tomorrow!
Looks amazing, definitely tempting to as the bike to replace my monster. Something special about a Duc
I was under the impression you just need a horn to be able to use a track bike on the road...with daytime mot obv!
Looks awesome!!! 🙂
Here's my old 748, going to keep it forever.

Edit - dognammit, how do I link to Flickr?
So much nicer in the unstickered fairings!
Matt, I believe its a horn, plate hanger and right side mirror.
We'll find out soon.
Got a side stand arriving today for ease.
Will take more pics when I get home later.
I was awake at 5am!
Not bloody surprised, I'da not gone to sleep !
Stay safe, have fun.
That does look a very nice bike.
Gave up bikes with engines 18 months ago. I just didn't enjoy it on the road anymore and as above I was heading for a free holiday courtesy of her majesty.
My last bike was also a Ducati, a 749s with a few extras. Great on a track but just not on the roads.
**** me that's nice weeksy you lucky sod
Bet your neighbours will be enjoying those cans on start up 😯
Blue printed Ducati Weeksy......enjoy it while it lasts 😀
As for the road, I've done some daylight MOT's and I only ever require:
Horn
Number Plate
Reflector (on the centreline of the bike - so usually bottom middle on the plate)
Mirrors are optional (but advisable on a sportsbike, the Supermoto's are different.)
I get to mess with a baby Panigale this year as my best mate who I spanner for is racing Ducati Tri Options Cup
Wonders why you do not put in as much effort when buying a mtb... Lol
Seriously envious of your choice, I gave up on KTMs in the end after buying a faulty one so a Ducati looks like, well the one you are picking up atleast to be without niggles and proper jobby!
Will await a ride review sometime
Looks like he's been having fun on that judging by the snotty edges on the tyres 🙂

Cheers chainslapp!
I think I forgot to close the image tag!
Ooh ..that's going to cost ££££ when you hit the kitty litter ............nice btw
Good point, I'd be tempted to get some crash bungs on it weeksy.
I've got Xerox track fairings for the 1098 but haven't had the guts to put it on track yet, there's only one way that's going to end.
So today was a drive up to meet Couchie and Legion748 in the RAIN ! (Sorry Couchie), yes the Gsxr got wet and dirty.
After a nice brekkie and some banter the bikes were swapped and I was away. In all honesty, I didn't really look at the bike as it was raining, didn't start it, didn't even glance at it, just loaded it up and away I went.
After some errands I got it home, unloaded and had a good once over. The bike is absolutely LOVELY.... Everything I expected and everything I wanted. OK, so there's a few paint issues on the track fairing fitted, but TBH that's to be expected. Apart from that and the 1,000,000 dead flies on the bike, the yokes, the fork legs LOL, it's GREAT
What a noise.... Jeeeeez it fires up lovely, even the clocks and dash are a work of art LOL. But when you blip the throttle the cans make a stonking noise.. Just glorious.
I finally got closely aquainted with the bike and gave it a good old polishing, removing all the crud and track dirt. I won't bother stripping it down yet as I want a sidestand for that and also I'm at Donington next weekend so pointless as it's likely to be damp ! lol
So here's how it was pre-clean, looking bloody lovely IMO !
I can't say how much I appreciate the deal from Couchie.... a true gent.

Amazing what you can drag out of a skip these days.
Well done weeksy. It looks great - please don't die though, it looks terrifying!
I'll try not to Bear. I'll make it my life goal!
Debut ride on it is Donington next Friday. It sound like an animal and the 140bhp will be stonking!
It's nice, Weeksy
But no Panigale!
I think in some ways the pics don't do the bike justice to an extent, however the 'bad' bits you see in the pics like the scuffs etc are what makes the bikes character too for me, they give it the sense of history it has from being an ex-BSB ridden bike. It was campaigned for 2 seasons by a fella called Chris Richardson, who seemed to average 13th-16th in the Trioptions 848 cup. He spent a ridiculous figure on the bike, from the £4000 on suspension to the £4800 he spent on the engine work. Little things like that, really make the 'marks' on the bike have a sense of occasion 😉

You could of bought a really nice road bike with that money 😉
Don't tell anyone STW... but I'm quite scared by Friday at Donington. It's a circuit I've ridden 20+ times, so I must have done 400 laps I guess so I know it quite well, I've also ridden multiple Ducatis there, both my old 916 and a 996 race bike.
But... I'm either scared, nervous or excited about getting on this bike on Friday and riding it... Which is weird for me indeed, even 2 weekends back on a GSXR750K6 road bike, with lights, indicators and mirrors I SHOULD have been nervous about, I had nothing... it was just another TD..
So, I guess a quick write up before I get onto my 2nd San Miguel. (last nights write up)
How was it.. It was everything I wanted, everything I dreamed. It was just a stunning stunning machine. The track was dry, the weather was sunny (if a little cold), there were a bunch of old mates flying round the track and having laughs at eachothers expense.
The 848 behaved brilliantly, I was trying to get it out of shape, trying to brake a bit later, trying to corner 1 gear higher, trying to push a bit more (all relative as my speed is shite still), but the 848 just laughed at me... Took it all in it's stride and cracked on.
OK, so I wouldn't say it's completely 'at one' yet, but that's just me, not it, it takes a bit of getting used to with how it handles.
The slipper clutch is just brilliant, brake too late and just slap it down 2 gears, no blipping and it just sorted it all out LOL.
I'm knackered.... happy but knackered.
Top day with top people and a top bike 🙂
