HELP!
I want a new bike and not sure what to get. Need some suggestions.
I currently have a full suspension Cube AMS 130 Team and a Focus Cayo 105 LTD race bike, both are perfect for my needs, when its wet and muddy I take out the mtb and when it's dry and sunny I take out the race bike. I want something for every other time too, when its not nice enough to take out the race bike but too dry to take the mtb.
I basically want an excuse to buy a new bike. Looked at singlespeeds first but living in hilly Hampshire that might not be the best idea. So what else? A more mountain bike style with semi road tyres?
Your thoughts.
Cheers.
Dave.
Use the road bike. Its only water
too dry for the mtb?
Nope, can't get my head around that....
Sorry I sound like a bit of a ****, I mean the above as a very general rule. Basically I mainly use my road bike in the summer, and mtb in the winter, again that's not set in stone.
I want another bike, any thoughts?
I like the thinking, an excuse to build another bike! 😉 I've just done a similar thing, I've got an Ellsworth Evolution 29er and a Giant Defy Advanced 2 and wanted to build something else. I've gone for a lightweight XC bike that sort of sits in the middle, I didn't want carbon as I don't really like it for MTBs even though it would have been the lightest. It was a toss up between a custom made steel frame or a titanium frame, in the end I went for a Lynskey 29pro VF. I guess if you have a road bike and a full sus, a hardtail is a suitable addition!
Cross bike or single speed.
Downhill bike 🙂
Big thumping 6" trail monster 🙂
Either get a winter trainer road bike, or a singlespeed/geared hardtail that can get muddy and trashed without huge maintenance costs.
On one whippet.
They just had a 50% sale. Picked up a steel inbred frame for £99. Built it up out of a giant nrs, well pleased.
Sorry for lack of response.. Crazy first week back at work.
Back onto the new bike.. a singlespeed hardtail 29er sounds like an interesting prospect.. My only concern is its pretty hilly around here.
I ride around north Hampshire and reckon a 29er hardtail hits the mark..
Singlespeed?
A single speed is fine around north Hampshire. You soon get used to going up hill on them.
