So, new bike required and I'm torn between the following:
Cube Reaction TM 27.5 or Cube Reaction C62 29er......similar prices, both nice spec....one much more racy, the other with big tyres, tubeless compatibility and dropper.....
Why a difficult choice?
Summer MTB = trail centres, Lakes, Dalby, etc
Winter MTB = long XC rides, mud
So a combination of riding, suiting one bike more than the other at different times of the year....oh bugger, what to do!?
Also, any other suggestions?
Not familiar with either of those bikes but I have a yeti ascr full suss xc bike 29er and a trance as a trail bike 650b and they are very different bikes.
Even though the yeti has only 20mm les travel at the front and set up to handle reasonable technical terrain the geo makes it far less capable on the descents. I think geo trumps travel when it comes to going down hill
I would get the 29er and add a dropper/big tyres for your summer fun, then strip it back to full xc the rest of the time.
I’ve got an earlier Reaction GTC Race 29er. 100m travel forks, lots of shiny parts inc carbon wheels, Praxis cranks & Di2 so it weighs circa 9.6kg. Proper xc stuff.
I love it for the sort of riding I do, mainly South Downs type stuff but including a reasonable bit of techy singletrack.
I keep meaning to get round to servicing my Reberb and fitting it so I can ride more of the steeper stuff in back of QECP without feeling like I’m back in the ‘90s but other than that I don’t miss my previous bike (Stanton Switchback 27.5 with 150mm Pike).
Does it have to be one of those 2?
What about a slightly more rugged 29er HT, say 120mm forks, dropper, etc.
