so the girlfriend has just got a 2017 large enduro 29”.
she loves the reach and the wheel size, but hates the fact it’s only a single chain ring up front. She thought she would get on with it, but it’s becoming more apparent she isn’t.
so looking at options.
its either buy a frame than can take all the parts then sell the enduro frame, or sell the complete bike and find something else.
ideally I’d have on a Nicolai G13 but can’t see funds stretching that far.
So any ideas what we can look out for, or does any one have a frame that they want to sell that will fit the bill? Geometry roughly the same as the enduro.
thanks in advance
Why not try a smaller front chainring. We ran our 2017 Enduros with 30 t on the 12 speed and 28 t on the 11 speed. Superstar have a bank holiday code so shouldn't be much more than £20 to try it
It came with the 28t already.
Superstar do a 26t. Most bikes like the Enduro don't have a mount for the front mech. Other option is to go Eagle so she gets a big 50t climbing gear on the back.
I had debated the one up components shark thing
There's a bit of kit that can change a single ring frame to a double im sure but can't remember for the life of me what it's called or where I saw it. If she likes the bike this might be the best thing to do?
Sorry for being a bit vague
I had debated fitting an ISCG mount mech, but doubt the frame will allow the clearance for a double ring.
The older 29er Enduros and Stuumpjumpers had a taco blade to fit a double but looking at the new ones with the new bottom brackets I can't see where there is room to fit anything
28:50 (if you go 12sp Eagle) is an almost identical ratio to 22:40. Given that most double setups would be (have been) running 22:36 as a winch gear, how low does she need to go..!?
Does she say she needs easier gearing, or harder?
There's barely anything to gain by going 2x.
Where do you ride?
What's the problem, out of interest?
Does it already have Eagle? Assuming she wants easier gearing, adding a few GX 12sp parts would be a cheaper fix than a new bike or frame.
On another note, bar height can be a bit of an issue on the E29 - and can make climbing feel awkward.
Might be worth chucking a flat bar on for a test ride.
