I've got about £200 (+) to spend on my 8yo daughters new bike. We're a family of giants so she's about the size of an 11yo. She's got a wee 20" inch cube with 6 gears that she's totally outgrown. I'm thinking either the biggest kids bike available (think 26" Bonaly) or an XS adult MTB. We tried her on such a machine that the team at Glenmore were selling second hand and the overall size was fine.but the cockpit seemed a bit big. The same was found on an XS MTB at Decathlon. That is the brake levers were a bit of a stretch. I can adjust that on V brakes but not discs. Any thoughts? A big kids bike might only last her a year but a small adult one might last a few.
Bump.
Watching with interest, daughter is 10 and suddenly looks lanky on her 24in bike. Usual suspects from Frog, Halfords / Wiggins, Dawes all about £300 and just not sure worth it, if looking to upgrade to an adult bike in near future. 27.5 makes the jump harder as she's small and was struggling on most we've tried but Cube seemed to be best for reach / stand over. Not much on 2nd hand at this size.
