I can't decide whether to commit to a Solaris or a rocket. I ride a soul and love it genuinely I do, if I went for Solaris there isn't much point in having two hardtails but I don't want to get rid of my soul we've been through a bit together.

Help friends..........

Then why do you need another bike?

Get a Rocket...as you say no point in having two hardtails.

I plan only to ever own a FS and Hardtail and in line with my normal riding pursuits...that's my philosophy anyway.

You're obviously comfortable with being a fanboy, so, get a Rocket. And a Solaris. And a Roadrat. And another Soul with rigid forks for winter. And an X which you will never ride offroad. And then, oh, there's a cheap Soda on the classifieds, you'll not get many chances to get one of those.

Or, give us a little info on your riding so we can add something useful 😉 Rocket if you do a lot of Rocketey stuff. If you don't, spend it on hookers.

Not another moral dilemma thread! 🙂

Exactly what I was thinking.

Actually you're right, I love my Soul and I bought another bike. However it's a BMX in the same shade of orange so it looks just like my Soul from far away...

Ultimately I think you have to ask do you need a 150 travel bike, if your doing all your main riding on a hardtail then I would question that! My be a shorter travel full sus would be the way/compromise between sus/29er that you are looking at. If it was me and cotic is your brand then perhaps wait for there new 120 mm travel full sus which is said to be coming in the summer.

Anything you can ride on a short travel full suss, you can rife on the Soul.

Get the Rocket, and start doing stupid things on it.

Thanks all for input, still undecided, I've been riding my road bike a it lately and have enjoyed the change. I've single speeded my soul for winter riding round pines, but for my peaks, lakes and a Torridon trip later this yr I wonder if a full sus would just be a lot of fun and I would be able to hit things harder and faster than I do on soul?

I like HTs, get the Solaris, & forks & wheels, now. The rest can come from your Soul. Then sell the Soul frame, save up and buy a Rocket frame and put your Soul forks and wheel on it.

Rocket's are lovely. Not sure if that helps in any way... great thing about mine is it is giving me endless excuses to go find exciting places to ride it.

Or keep your Soul, you've already SS'd it, put some rigid forks on. Then it's properly different to your other bike(s).

Ha mattjg, now yours is the kind of advice I need to hear (first post) in fact I do have a new 29er wheelset hanging up in my shed ready for my Solaris I was adamant about getting until a month or so ago.

If you haven't given a 29er a good whizz you should do that before you decide - get a test ride on something. A proper ride or 3, not a spin around a car park.

Really it all depends what you want to do, where you ride, and, in your heart, what you are hankering for. Only you know really.

There's no bad decision between a Solaris or Rocket, either would resell OK if you needed to.
