So as a mountain biker I have slowly been transitioning into road riding via gravel. Well the other day I almost finished the metamorphosis by purchasing a pinarello X7. It's my 1st "proper" road bike and I bought it on the strength of advertising and brand association ! Yes there are better cheaper bikes (many) but I wanted a pinarello even though I am not a dentist or a partner at the big4 !
1st impressions (it's only been out 3 times due to weather and marathon training commitments) - it's *fast* I mean really fast. If you engage beast mode and hammer you are doing 32-36kph easily. Any slight decline in the road and you are hitting 40-42 kph without even trying. Not tried any big descents yet but I suspect that I will beat my previous 75kph
I went for the smaller frame than I am used to as the next size up had a 2cm higher stack height. Not sure if this was a good idea or not but it's super comfy in the drops when my gravel bike isn't. There is toe overlap which on the 1st ride was an issue but my body now seems to have adjusted to keeping feet clear of the front wheel.
Ultegra di2 is magnificent - I love electronic shifting. I don't know if I will bother on my mountain bike but on this bike it's amazing. You press and the gear is just there... No fuss - no messing.
Not sure about the tyres it came with (pirelli p zeros) but they will do for now and in the summer I will put gp5000's on set up tubeless.
When the weather improves I will get some pics !
Q
could at least pop a nice picture in
Well it's not the best due to the weather but here it is

May I be the first to say; lawn needs cutting 🙂
Oh, and nice boik. I don't ride my nice road bikes in winter but it's like being turbo charged during those first few spring miles when they break cover again. Enjoy 🙂
I have a mate with a Dogma X, he absolutely loves it, in photo form they do look a little awkward, but much nicer in the flesh. As it's winter most of my road miles are on my battered triggers broom Genesis CDA, the odd dry ride on my 'nice' bike is a revelation, it's like getting off a donkey and onto a racehorse.
So, valves should be both at the top or both at the bottom and pedals should be aligned with cranks. 8/10 as at least the cranks are (nearly) horizontal!
Nice bike BTW - like the colour scheme.

Do you also only ride your best MTB when it's only dry & dusty?
I really like that. Very nice. Very nice.

So many snipey miseries use this forum! He likes to keep a nice bike for nice weather. Leave him alone.........

Nope, but my CDA has full length guards, 35mm tyres and I don't care if it gets covered in road grime, and to top it off I did take my nice bike out today on what turned out to be very slick roads, only to push it too hard round a corner into a 2 wheel drift resulting in a close inspection of the tarmac. Fortunately nothing some new bar tape and a bit of paint touch up on the rear mech won't solve.

Exactly, I'm fortunate enough to own a few bikes, I may as well use them all.

Yeah "the weather" is the problem.
I am sure its lovely to ride but my god.
Glad you are enjoying it though!

No but of choice I use the FS less in winter in preference of the hardtail, if it's really gopping it will impact what I ride. Having "winter" bikes for road or MTB isn't that unusual.
It's a lovely bike but I wouldn't be hanging around the waste ground of dodgy estate taking pictures of it, though.
Happy new bike day!
Needs more pics of the frame details, I like Pinnarello's function over form!
