Would the 5G not be more up to date and faster? Although riding it could give you COVID.

Tensioner for a tool free 10-second-swapable dingle speed!

5G was out of budget, just picked the older one up for a little under £400

I hate mud, you'd ave thought I'd gotten used to it by now

Very nice and a bit of a bargain. Where did you find it?

God, not a bargain, I paid £380 on facebook but for frame only 🙂 Most other bits were moved over from my Stooge

Not a bad deal as it was brand new, but the days where a nice single speed full build can be found for that price seem over still, for now...

True of anything bike related right now.

That's nearly half what the 5g is going for, so it bad. Plus there isn't much around like it. I have a rigid/short travel steel hardtail itch - the 5g would be perfect. The Nordest Sardinhia would work too. Ones pricey, the other is in europe. Everything else is built for far more gnarly stuff than I'd use it for.

I nearly went for the Nordest but then remembered that Brexit thing...

But my Sirius has ended up looking almost identical

That double single speed is just cheating! But also very clever! 😀

How big a gap would be feasible between ratios... I miss my SS, but now I live in Somerset, need a genuine climbing gear... reckon I’d need something like an 8t difference... 36.20 for flat off-road, 28.28 for some of the steeper Combes? Too big, or worth a try?

The Nordest yellow is a bit, well your colour is nicer. Plus supporting UK. I may have to rethink my self-imposed facebook embargo if that's where you find them. Plus the Sardinhia 2 is specifically designed to accommodate a 120mm fork so that bumps the price a lot

Oh, I had posted a pic of a black Nordest but it seems to have disappeared and now it looks like I just posted the same pic of my bike again for now reason...

Anyway, I'll try again and if not here's the link:

@sheck as long as the total number of teeth are the same, changing ratios should be no problem if using a tensioner, so your suggested combination should be fine.

Without a tensioner, probably not: I was running the same 36/17 and 33/20 ratios on a Genesis Fortitude a while back, horizontal dropouts with no tensioner, and I found it needed a slight adjustment on the chain tugs when changing ratios. It was very annoying so I went the tensioner route.

Thanks @legometeorology... would steal your idea of a tensioner to ease swapping

No worries, although I should say I'm not the original creator of the idea!
