Been looking to update the frame and forks on my Voodoo Bizango SS as I've been riding it a bit lately. As an original inbred owner i quite fancied a Huntsman with its sliding dropouts but disappointingly on one have discontinued that bike. This one popped up on ebay and it’s in mint condition. Had my first ride out on it this evening and well pleased with it.
Needs a link out the chain and i need to sort the dropper out as the cable pulled through after a couple of presses

it’s scary how steep the head tube angle on the inbred looks now in hindsight. I’ve recently gone through a similar generational leap in bike from ‘00s to 2020’s.

I like that. I've toyed with getting a Huntsman before, and certainly the idea of proper SS-able dropouts appeals. But my Ragley BigWig is great, no reason to change (for now).
Hardtailonly - how do you tension that chain? Can’t zoom in on my phone to see how you’ve done it and thought those were normal dropouts? Sorry if a dumb question.
OP - didn’t realise the huntsman was discontinued, looks brilliant. I had an inbred 29 for a bit and it was a great versatile bike.

Nice, like Hardtailonly I was tempted to swap my scandal frame for a huntsman but couldn't really justify it just for the dropouts.
Currently running a Surly tensioner but the spring has collapsed so needs something else or rebuilding.
I found BB tensioners noisy though? It wasn't so bad on geared bikes as there's so much else whirring away but it was really noticeable on the SS. I assumed because they were bolted solidly to bigger tubes that maybe resonated rather than being spring mounted on the dropout. How does that one fare?

Yeah, it's a bit grumbly but it generally seems a more robust solution compared to sprung tensioners IME

I was trying to guess how many years / frames that tensioner had been on .......
I think I sold it to someone on here ~2014 but it bounced back return to sender after a few months, so it's not exactly new!
Chain and dropper cable sorted. I also fitted a set of 30mm rise bars as I found front end a bit low, which was a bit surprising as the old bike was a L and this is XL. Guess that could be down to the longer TT and being a bit more stretched out?
I was considering going from 30/18 to a 20t cog to help keep things spinning up the steeper climbs but don’t want to be spinning out on the flat. Think I’ll run with it as is for now and see how my knees cope with the same gearing on a bigger heavier bike.
Out this morning and a lot happier with the riding position with the 30mm rise bars. Will probably have to find a way to reduce the travel on the 200mm brand x dropper or find a 180mm second hand one as it’s a just a bit too long.
