After a injury which kept me off the bike for nine months I decided to treat myself for my birthday.
Only ordered it around two weeks ago and today it arrived.
Geometron G1 in large.
Still need a couple of bits doing to it, but put it together this afternoon ready to ride over the weekend.
I think it looks rather nice.

Mmmm where's that gone.
Ohh, that's a nice prezzy to yourself!
Happy birthday 🙂
Very nice. No expense spared on that build.
Good stuff, can't really add much to that build, Ext front and rear will be interesting to work out as well, what wheels are you running, mullet or not?
Yep it's mullet ATM but might try it in full 29 too.
That's one of the really good things about the G1 swap the mutators and use different sized wheels without altering the geo.
cant beat a new bike thread.
nice one Stu. enjoy it pal.
Looks lush, but I wouldn't want to try and turn round in the Suez canal
Very purposeful. 👌
More importantly, you need to vary your fruit diet some more.
The only thing I could think to replace my now four year old g15 with, is one of these. Looks nice👍
And if you can't make one go round a tight corner, you can't ride properly 😁
Lovely! And Looooong.
All the other fruit is in the fridge Matt.😜
I'll have no problems turning it.
My Trail bike is a G13 with a 2 degree slackset...
Nice 👌 is the front wheel insured in a different postcode to the rear?
Cracking bike and I'm sure you will love it. Be interested to hear thoughts on comparison with G13 in due course.
Enjoy!
That looks like all the fun, enjoy.
Ooooh - like!
That is erotic. Enjoy!
Thats nice is that.
Worth putting a bit of velcro (or something soft) inside the driveside seat stay, stops the chain making a racket.
Nice! I should be getting my G1 very soon too, hopefully being built up this week so I can go and collect it soon. Mine's in black though 😉

Same as I did on the G13 and G16 then.😎
I think they seem horrific to ride, but BOY is that a work of art right there ! Jeeepers... yummy.
Weren't messing aroung with those welds were they. Serrrious!
My Trail bike is a G13
Interesting - what category does the Geometron come under?
I do love a bit of welding porn.
The G13 is a Geometron just with shorter travel 130 rear 150 front.
G1 will be my Gnarpoon/Mincetank/Uplift/Endurobro bike.
Theres going to be a lot of glum envious faces you're going to meet on the trails 😆 That has to be one of the best looking capable bikes I've ever seen.
Ah, of course. Exactly what I thought 😀
mincetank 😆
I would love a geometron, was going to demo last year when the turd hit the spinny thing and every thing got cancelled. Maybe next year..
Looks stunning
ooh i like that... not sure i'd know what to do with it, but i do like it!
I think Northwind takes the credit for the phrase Mincetank.
I think they seem horrific to ride
Maybe if all you have to ride is Swinley. Luckily I have some very nice trails and an uplift service here on my doorstep.
Sneaky stealth add.
There will be a G16 size large up for sale soon.
I think they seem horrific to ride
You wouldn't be saying that if you actually tried one. They're absolutely fantastic, the length of them really isn't an issue and in fact it's a plus 99% of the time. That coupled with the bespoke setup for the individual and it makes a whole world of difference. I cannot wait to get mine.
You wouldn’t be saying that if you actually tried one.
VEry possibly, but they do seem very focused in what they do to me. I run a 160 which obviously is no XC whippet, but the Geometron do seem a step way above that with the head angle and length etc. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong one day.
I don't think our Southernlandshire trails would make one worthwhile. But as an N+1 kept in the garage for those special days/holidays, lovely. (Well, for someone not in the RUCKUS squad anyway.)
Nice one, stu. I like mine more and more. The raw is great, there's just no worries with it. Are those graphics stuck on, or have they started blasting them? I have a habit of messing up my decals with the workstand
got a bit excited when i saw the thread title, i have a raw Privateer 141 on order!
its a bit like the pikey version of this, but at least it can carry a bottle...
debating whether you would get a raw frame wrapped?? my current bike is peppered with paint chips!! but they are all cosmetic, no serious damage.
That looks really nice, really bombproof, and a bunch of fun
Graphics are still stickers.
debating whether you would get a raw frame wrapped??
The whole idea of the raw frame is that it doesn't matter if it gets scratched.
If it gets a bit dull or scuffed up you just give it a bit of a going over with a scotchbrite pad.
My raw G13 is almost three years old and still looks great.
I'd love a go on a Privateer. They seem pretty sorted.👍
oooosh! heck of a machine! Very nice!
Do i dare ask the weight of such a beast?!
The whole idea of the raw frame is that it doesn’t matter if it gets scratched.
really, i just chose it coz it looks cool AF !
seriously, ive always had bikes wrapped, since it was a thing at least, but never really appreciated the value of it until i didnt have this one done!! interesting...
No idea on weight.
It's not something I worry about.
Lovely.
You've been very restrained with the coloured anodising as well, I must say.
That looks amazing. And almost as long as the tandem I bought off you! Tandem is still going strong by the way and gets ridden more than any other bike, including recent trips to Coed Y Brenin and Nant Yr Arian.
Sorry if I missed it, but what front and rear travel have you got it at?
I think they seem horrific to ride
-Its the only bike I've owned that has had zero issues
-It works as a system, front and rear working together, unlike other bikes where is always feels like there is a mistmatch
-EXT storia is on a different level to anything else I've used (Fox X2, Super Deluxe, Ohlins TTX)
-Support from Geometron is second to none, no other manufacturer comes close to what they offer.
That is epically long. What's the wheelbase dimension?
I do like the raw/industrial look of them, there is something nice about a bike with no paint. It's been a long time since i've owned a Nicolai, but they are true to their roots 🙂

That of course, is subjective. Having ridden a few extensively, safe to say they turn me into a wobbler, which is the reason why at 6'2" I ride a bike only just bigger than the smallest one they make.
When I take my bike for some work there on the shock, i'm sure I can see Porter twitching - usually itching to tell me how unrideably small my bike is. If I mention i'm faster and find it more fun it's meltdown time. 😆
Ah so there’s some towpaths up there too? Definitely a machine up for that task. Glad you’re healing!
Looks hewn from metal rather than built!
Looks great that Stu. See a few of them around here (FoD) due to ex Dirt guys/Chris Porter being just down the road. Never ridden one but they looks extremely purposeful 🙂
Glad the shoulder is finally healing as well.

Yes! I love brushed ally, it looks 'factory' AF 😎
That's a smashing looking bike OP- those welds! 😋
edit- damn, I'm looking at ally hardtail frames that could be rawed now...
Glad the tandem is still getting used. Seem to remember your lad being pretty excited when he came to see it. 😎
Thanks for the good wishes Houns/Alex.
Not 100% but very slowly getting there. Feel free to give us a shout if you head up this way.
Wheelbase is 1324
170 front, 175 rear but can also run 162 rear.
Only reason it has some orange on is because I had the grips on another bike already and can't afford another pair just to change the colour.
Less is more when it comes to ano in my eyes.
Don't want my bikes looking like they've ram raided Ratners.
Hob Nob.
I can just imagine CP having in internal conversation with himself and using every bit of willpower he has to not say anything to you. 😁
Joe still absolutely loves the tandem, and even though he can ride on two wheels himself now, he still says the tandem is the best bike ever. In fact he now calls it “The Supertandem”!

* quickly throws dust sheet over a shed full of bikes*

Very nice, love a raw bike, unfortunately my love of all things steel means it doesn't work very well. Couldn't agree more about anodised bits as well.
I tried one around Cannock of all places a few years ago and was amazed at how well it rode for something with, I think, 160mm travel.
That is a beautiful bike and looks like it means business
erictwinge

I think the Privateer is raw with a clearcoat over it, so not raw in the same sense as the G1 - G1 has no paint at all, and comes with steel wool to get rid of scratches. It's a different alloy to other frames, so doesn't corrode

On the flipside, I'm more comfortable on a "large" G1 than I was on my Large Enduro.
In our riding group there are a few which have been riding for years and big bikes just dont work for them. Old dogs, new fangled geometry....
I'm 5ft 8in and my "big bike" is similar in size to a small Geometron.
Sometimes I go really fast on it and it's the best bike ever, other times it gets a bit awkward and hard work - and my more normal trail bike would be faster.
Bikes are always a compromise, eh?
Anyway, if I had to replace my big bike, I'd be looking at a G1 very close to how you've got yours Stu.
liking mine too.
Mullet 29/27.5 on 15mm seatstay mutators.
aye; i am back fae the desert pal
