No.1 son seems to be sleeping in a gro-bag at the moment and after having to raise his saddle 1.5", fit 150mm cranks and swap from a 40 to a 70mm just so it didn't look like he was riding a clown bike on his HUP Evo 37cm frame I got busy on the internets and went looking for his next frame, it had to be a multi-use type frame like the HUP so he could have it set up for either road of CX, and after a good search and seeing what he liked we went for a Ridley X-Ride in XS/47cm.
We built it up last night, transferring all of the parts over from his HUP, even the brake and gear cables were the right length, well we actually had to cut the gear cable down, so the back end must be shorter on the Ridley!
I had to weigh it and given the fact it's an alloy frame with a steel square taper BB, heavy'ish alloy cranks and nothing exotic finishing kit wise (just alloy bars, stem and a cheapo ebay carbon post) it comes in a 8.2kg which is only 50g heavier than his 10cm smaller HUP 😀
et voila, a dinky Ridley in matte Belgium Blue set up and ready to roll on Sunday. The good thing is it'll last him until he's about 5'3" which might even be a couple of years!! I have to say Paul Milnes Cycles were brilliant to deal with over the phone and it turned up next day too.
That's a proper thing ! Congratulations to the smally 🙂

ahahahahahahaha....
We went through that phase - new bikes every 18 months as they seem to grow every time they get a good nights sleep...
Is anyone else triggered by the few stray pebbles?
