You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I’ve been hankering after one of these for a while and managed to snag a pre Christmas bargain on a frame and fork.
Just a smidge over 10kg for a 130mm hardtail is okay in my book. If it turns into a keeper, I’ll swap the HS and BB for some CK, but these are what it came with.
First ride tomorrow. The XR2s may be a little ambitious, but I can swap out wheels from the other bikes if needed.

Tidy but have to mark you down for the skirting board in the first picture.
A few marks on that that need cleaning/ re painting.
Bike looks great though.
It's a shame you had to sell all your pictures and carpet to afford it but yes, very nice bicycle
Was out on mine today, took a real shi**er on some ice but can’t blame the bike I don’t think.
There's something missing, I'm not sure what...oh, there's no sofa in the pictures 🙂
(lovely bike though)
Matte Mango works well with Turq.
130mm SIDS ?
Ooh yes, love that.
I'd have one of those in my dream hardtail collection of bikes that I don't actually have time to ride.
Along with a stainless Starling and a Stooge and a singlespeed and maybe a Carbon Wasp gearbox fatbike...
My actual hardtails are an Orange Crush (just does the job) and Canyon Dude (which makes me smile) but I spend way too much time trying to condense these into one dream hardtail but always end up back where I started.

130mm SIDS ?
…was my first question when buying it. But, yes. 130mm SIDs. Checked with the buyer and the bikeshop who did the work under the advice of SRAM. 130mm measured on arrival and they do fully compress.
Nice bike and decent build weight.
I’ve had my ARC over 4 years now. Not bored with it at all. I’ve made a few changes from the complete build spec but mine is definitely on the trail end of the spectrum I’m guessing in terms of weight. Still climbs well and responds to pedal input crisply.
Enjoy your new bike!
What is the actual frame weight?
I still have, ride and love my 'mark 1' carbon Arc. Had it 12 or 13 years now, weighs 23.5lbs and is perfect for the riding I do 98% of the time off-road. Only issue now is it isn't boost so will possibly begin to become problematical when things need replacing: forks, wheels and cranks.
Funny how way back then everyone was criticizing the high frame cost £1,600! Seems very economical to me 😉
Part of me would replace it with the current version with no thought needed, but a part of me does now consider whether I would go back to steel or ti. Something I will think about eventually when it needs to be thought about.
Well, it’s comfortable, capable, fast and fun! Like a Chameleon, but without the piledriver feeling.
The XR2s coped surprisingly well, but were totally overwhelmed by the recently logged section. Mud doughnuts and sliding everywhere.
Definitely a keeper (sorry Titus)…oh, and I’ve cleaned, sanded and painted the skirting board…you b4stards.

Lawn needs sorting in that top pic....
Nice, what’s the build? Trying to work out why mine is 3kg heavier…
Sorry, Peter - missed this.
- Large Turq Frame
- SID fork adapted to 130mm
- XTR drivetrain with a 10-51, but with a SRAM X1 crank (lighter, cheaper, no special tools and easier to get chainrings) with a Wolftooth 34t Chainring
- Chris King, Nextie, CX-ray wheelset (1.4kg)
- Hope Tech4 E4/X2 (E4 wont fit in the rear of the YETI -grrr) brakse with XTR 180mm rotors
- Bikeyoke Revive 170-180mm dropper
- Enve M6 Stem
- One-up 35mm rise carbon bar
- Bontrager 2.35*29 XTR tyres (0.735kg per tyre)
The XTR drivetrain saves over 500g vs GX AXS, the SID over 300g vs a 34, the wheelset over 350g vs a DT 1700 and the tyres over 500g on what's most commonly specced. The fabric saddle will be swapped with a lighter one soon which will drop it under 10kg. Mine was also weighed (as per photo) without pedals as that how I (and manufacturers) have always weighed bikes, but most folks don't.
Love it! I run mine with 140mm Fox 34's and it's low 10kg's with full XT and some less fancy Hunt XC Race wheels but in a size Small.
I've always had Steel hardtails as I love the look and feel of them, but the ARC is just brilliant.
What stem lengths are people using? My only criticism with mine, is that it feels a tad short for me using a 50mm Hope and Hope 35 mm Carbon bar. Might think about a slightly longer stem, but don’t want to ruin the handling. I’m an old school racerboy though, so maybe it’s me, not the fit…
I agree. I’m using a 35mm stem but have rolled the 35mm rise bars forward to reduce the sweep and moved the saddle back. This feels about right to me.
I’m running a 50mm (Renthal Apex) with fatbar lite bars on a size large. I know what you mean - for me coming from an old school MTB background in particular - but I’ve stuck with it, got used to it and love the handling.
I think only a 35mm or 40mm stem on mine, but thinking about it I did actually get a Medium whereas on some longer/slacker bikes like my Cotic I'm top end of a Small frame.
that reminds me i must use mine
hows everyone finding the tyres, are you running the wider 2.6 as specced,
i went to DHR front and minion SS on rear 2.4s , always feels a bit harsh
i've been keeping it clean as the fork needs a service, and replacement magura lever.
lever was fitted under warranty in August, fork still needs a service.
I’m on 2.4 Spesh ground control. Was thinking maybe I’ll go bigger when it dries out, not sure what though.
I’m on 2.6s
front - stock DHF (exo)
rear - stock Rekon (exo) for a while but sliced the side wall on a root end so replaced with a DHR II (exo+)
2.4s work well for me on a variety of bikes. I do have a 2.6 which could go on, but don't feel a need for it. I'm only 70kg.
50mm stem on mine, and I fitted a 9point8 slackerizer to do something about the steep head angle
Nice!
I'm about about 2 years in with mine and couldn't be happier. This one runs Fox 34 120mm Factory SC, XT/R 12sp, DT XMC1200 wheels, 125mm dropper, 60mm stem, a flat-ish Next bar and 2.4 Rekons... about 10.5kg with pedals.
I'm an XC kinda rider and so this build is a touch more capable on rougher trails with a tiny bit lost on uphill and flat, compared to my last 100mm skinny hardtail.
