Cotic RocketMax XL just built up today and the cane creek DB IL shock is losing air.

Drops around 60psi, set sag on it started riding everything feeling good, short while later feeling a bit strange and clipping pedals a lot.

Checked air pressure, pumps shock back up and then repeat for the rest of the ride.

Feels like it’s bobbing a lot as well, much more then the demo bike with the same shock and air pressure, and the climb switch doesn’t seem to be doing anything either.

The demo bike rode really well, didn’t notice any bobbing on it, never really needed the climb switch, only used it on the steep road climb up to curbar gap

That's horrible. So disappointing. You've been hit buy the Cane Creek curse. They're lovely shocks... when they work. Demand a new shock, not a repair.

Oh how disappointing. But DOA is much less hassle than it breaking after a few months when there's an argument to be had about have you serviced it properly, used it outside its design limits. If you get bad customer service, then you get to be really upset.

That's a bummer.

My Flaremax arrived yesterday with CCDBIL shock.

Not ridden yet so hope mines ok. Needed to put quite a bit of pressure in to get the sag right.

Its raining in the Peak so at least it won't get dirty. 😉
Very windy today so didn't see many out.
I had a couple of them that leaked from new on my Enduro. Even moded a Shimano crank spanner to tighten up the can ring which helped but still leaked. Gave up in the end and fitted an Ohlins.

Mine started doing that, right on the first day of my Alpine holiday! Popped the aircan off and traced it to one of the o-rings having a tiny nick in it. Sourced a new one locally - amazingly one of the local bike hire places had a few! - and it was fine after that. Got home and sent it off for a service only to be told the inner shaft was scored. Wasn't warranty so had to stump up a few quid for that. Add on that the Helm forks that went in for a service at the same time had undersized bushings that had worn out the lower stanchions despite me being careful to change the lower oil regularly and I doubt I'll buy any Cane Creek suspension again. Thankfully Sprung got the forks replaced under warranty so both shock and forks are still in use but if they give me any grief next service, which is due around Easter, I'll be swapping them out for Fox instead. My CCDB Air CS on my old 5 though was faultless, brilliant shock.

Demand a new shock, not a repair.

That’s round the wrong way. Get it repaired and you’ll know it’s been put together properly rather than thrown together in the factory

Nice bike @crazybaboon.

Saw your post. Hope you get sorted soon. Cotic have been great so far.

I ummed and ahhed between rocket and flare, but my local riding is more climby than enduro-y so went with the flare max.

And I'm no spring chicken so am unlikely to go big these days 😜

Checked pressure overnight, seemed to be holding ok, just the usual few psi whilst connecting and disconnecting shock pump.

This encouraged me to take it for a spin, but a quick go up and down the street, down a flight of steps and up and down the kerbs and it’s lost around 60 psi.

Also tried the full range of low speed compression and couldn’t tell any difference, nor any difference with the climb lever.

See what cotic has to say tomorrow

The one on my Enduro went badly squtchy after a few months, sacked it off and got a DHX2 air which copes better (but still dies).
