No I'm not starting a mid life crisis at 38, I started that at 21 with the car.

Hardly Dangerous Sportster...

What does your boyfriend think of it...? 😉

Why has it got two exhausts ?

I think the phrase that applies to Harley's is "all show and no go"...

Obviously one alone simply isn't shiny or loud loud enough.

What does your boyfriend think of it…? 😉

He's more interested in the ass-less leather chaps.

Jeepers! Some of these replies remind me of being a young biker in the 1980's

I wouldn't choose a Harley but each to their own.

I hope you enjoy the Harley Davidson, the MG Midget was always a nice classic British 'sportscar' and the garden and gravel all look good

I'm sure all of this is just banter and it's "all done in the best possible taste" :o)

"Why does it have two exhausts?"

"Because it has two cylinders?" 😀

Enjoy!

I mean, as long as you don't zoom in on the painting on to the garage door frame and ignore crap on the drive in the background ?

 I like the red flowers….

Kniphofia innit, aka red hot pokers.

New bike, apparently new paving on drive ... How's Mrs TINAS?

Sportsters are swift enough, you’ve just got to be able to ride properly 😉

Saw an unrelated post of yours a while back and wondered whether you still had the Midget- along with RustyNissanPrairie's Prairie surely one of  stw's more recognisable vehicles, with a bike sticking up on the front seat and the top down in the pouring rain.

Wife encouraged me to buy another bike earlier in the year , thinking I'd end up with something like that- I'm now the possessor of a CRF250L, but it'd be nice to have something where I can get both feet on the floor.

Out of curiosity, what's the insurance cost like?

? That was a miserable day.  I think unfortunately br's photos have been lost to some photobucket/flickr cull or other unless anyone has a copy saved somewhere.

A 250/300 Rally was on my shortlist, I think I ruled it out based on wanting something with "character" (i.e. objectively worse and flawed). If I get made redundant again then a 300 or a Himalayan would be on the cards to spend a few months doing some of the TET.

Out of curiosity, what’s the insurance cost like?

£215 inc european cover and breakdown recovery, I think it was £170 without the breakdown.  Express Bike insurance who are a subsidiary of Carol Nash.

She's fine, I re-modeled the garden to keep her quiet, that's why no ones heard from her since.

The rear tyre is very square. I think once I get the hang of it some new rubber will be required before any enthusiasm is applied to corners. That and possibly new and upgraded springs/dampers.

I hope it's nicer to ride than the 1980s Sportster. At least it appears to have a larger capacity fuel tank, I have unfond memories of 60 miles to a full tank of petrol. What capacity are they these days? The motor that is, not the petrol tank.

It's a baby so still the same 883cc Evo they've been since the Evo was launched.  The only real* difference is it's now rubber mounted.

The Tank is tiny, 2 UK gallons IIRC so realistically 100miles between stops.

*cylinder heads are different from early Evo's, and the rubber mounted frames share very little with the old frames although from a distance you'd not notice.

Should be a Triumph to go with the MG.  Will you be joining your local HOG and dressing like a pirate? 🙂

Should be a Triumph to go with the MG.

To avoid inter-BMC rivalry I think it would need to be a BSA Goldstar, I went to the launch at a local dealer and they are very nice looking bikes (and apparently internally the engine derives from the old Rotax 650 so should be pretty reliable).

Will you be joining your local HOG and dressing like a pirate? 🙂

I was adamant I was not going to be joining HOG, wearing a leather jacket etc and generally looking like an accountant cosplaying as the Son's of Anarchy.  Then I realized I wear boots, jeans and a leather jacket everyday anyway, so f*** it I'm leaning right into it .

Still not paying £75 to join HOG though.
