Finally managed to get this built up and ready for a ride.

It's a 2020 Santa Cruz Hightower V2 alloy frame in XL built up with all the bits that were on the Orbea Rallon that I had.

Fork is currently at 170mm but have the airshaft to take it down to 160 that will be a bit better.

Didn't get on with the Rallon at all, can't put a finger on why but that's the way it goes when you don't try before you buy.

I heard rumours that the alloy Hightower was really heavy but to be fair I can't tell much between this and the carbon Rallon.

People slate the colour for some reason but in the flesh it's nice.

Cheers guys.

Took it to the same forest that I struggled on the BFe max on and absolutely blasted everything including my legs and lungs.

It's a nice bike to ride. I feel in the bike instead of on it like the Rallon which is bizarre.

Sort of just clicked and felt instantly at home on it on some unfamiliar trails too. Although rear tyre was a bit low

It's mega dusty now

Some horrendous colour clashing going on, lose the purple, match fork decals to the frame.
Orange or blue parts would work well.

Looks a monster, not keen on the beige but that won't hold it back. Nice!

The saddle is a polarising one, to be fair. Lovely bike, though.

The bike looks twice as nice when you crop the photo to remove the bars and saddle 🙂.
Also look at the colour matched lyriks on the production model for example, looks miles better, the purple Fox decals arent doing it any favours, a little splash of blue parts to match the forks adjusters wouldn't hurt.
It could look amazing when it isn't clashing imho.

Can you still get decals for fox forks ?

It's always aesthetically pleasing when the stem cap and headset spacers match the forks adjusters. If it was mine, I'd have blue and orange hope bits, but that's just me.
Ride decals are still doing Fox, I think fox just singled out slikgraphics, theres plenty choice on Ebay.

Tyres and wheel logos! Come on!

there's a bit too much colour strangeness going on for me, but I do get the "in it vs. on it" feeling.

Just to update ......

Getting used to the Hightower now. It's a seriously fast bike. I'm getting quicker and quicker as I get more confident on it.

I did however have a massive off today and it's knocked my confidence a bit. My mate following me down the trail said I hit a lip and was about 4 foot in the air.

I landed witu the bars turned ready to get around the next bend and my front tyre burped and lost its air and through me into a tree. Cue me lying on the floor with the wind knocked out of me and lots of bruising. In agony now 🤣

Ive also started swapping none purple bits onto the bike.......

🤣🤣. I know I know.

I think it was just a case of I needed to ride more and just get used to a bike.

Seems to be working.

Down here in South Yorkshire we would just spit on that and keep going 😉
Bike looks better for the swap outs.

I'm bruised, cut, bleeding etc from under my armpit all the way down to my calf. No one needs to see that on here. I'll be banned 😂

So am I after last weeks off the mountain. Still been out every day and just off out again. Not stopped me wearing the bikini between rides 😉

Crashed three times this week but luckily hit the arm in the same place so just knocked the scabs off 😎

Haha fair play. Good effort on the arm.

Not sure the world's ready to see me in a mankini😃

As it stands I can't sleep on one side and I can't lift my arm above my head.

It's all good fun though. Hopefully back out tomorrow for some more.

Well this thing is getting better and better.

I feel much happier on it now. Getting some miles under my belt on it and learning how it handles.

Everyone I've rode with says it fits really well and that ties in with how comfy I feel on it.

Nice bike and good to hear you are getting on well with it.

Personally, I am not keen on all the coloured stuff but you can't see it when you are riding and it's your bike so do whatever you please 😉
