Hi
May have been covered before.
I currently have an on one whippet (16") which I am finding a little small for me, (need 18"). I am 5ft 8". I also have a 96er Carver SS.
I am now thinking as I have got to change frame size on whippet do I change everything and go for a build or buy a bike that will do everything i need. Race/trails/mud riding.
Whippet is 1 by 10 set up and weighs around 20lbs. I use it for racing/trails.
Do i just simply buy next size up whippet?
Do I go full suss or hardtail 26 or 29.
Budget could be the sale of bikes plus a little.
I just really dont want to waste my time building again to find I have built wrong bike.
Any advice/help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Selling the Whippet and Carver won't leave you much of a budget for even a half-decent second-hand FS. Assuming you still use the Carver I'd just swap the Whippet frame, won't cost much assuming you can sell the 16" one. Having two bikes comes in handy, especially over winter.
I hear what you say, I don't really want to sell the carver just thinking of options. I think your right, just buy another whippet frame.
Thanks
650b Whippet. Simple.
Or Carbon 456. Still quite light but offering more flexibility in terms of terrain type. Sounds like a better fit for what you want.
Nah. 29er, rigid for racing & some suss forks to plug when not. Soemthing that will run SS in Winter.
Or what about the Carbon Lurcher. Nearly ready it seems. Sounds great...

That article is 2 and a half years old, and they've been selling them for ages!

Well there you go then! Not that I want to encourage 29er adoption. Remember when it was almost impossible to source decent forks and tyres for them? That'll be us dwindling 26ers soon.
Thanks guys, 650b whippet has been a thought, stans crest wheels????
