Finished.

Had to swap out the 11-42t cassette for my spare 11-36t though as can't get the SRAM mech to work with longer b-screw - need a goat link or similar.

Hoses need shortening but ordered the wrong olives and barbs - dog!

Lad too it for maiden voyage around Marquis Drive this evening - seems well pleased with it.

You need to sort out the lawn edging next to the patio.

Nice build, bet your son can’t wait to ride it

Nice. I'm a few weeks behind and struggling for cranks. Those suntour JCT look pretty good. Are the standard 104/64 BCD?

@Scienceofficer yes they are 104 BCD. They only have the one set of bolt holes as the original 3 chainrings are riveted together.

For £25 I don't think you can go wrong with them.

Super Nice.

Wish my 12yo enjoyed riding, it’s just not a bit of him 🙁

Ah, thanks Dirk, good to know. I'll be able to get a 30t on there 1x.

Next best option I've found is the St. John's Street cycles Thorn cranks, which gives the 64mm holes too, but it's more than twice the price of the JCT.

No problem with a 30t - thats what I've put on this one.

His old Carrera Blast which is going to his sister has the same cranks and will be getting a 30t n/w too.

Fitted the 11-42t cassette tonight with a mech hanger extender.

SWEET.

As much as I'm enjoying building up 24" Blasts for my son (last year) and my daughter (now), I'm *really* looking forward to the investment in parts paying off and getting a XS 26" frame to transplant the parts on with those spare Crests hanging up in the garage.
