Got my shiny new bike, first drop bar for a couple of years and I’ve been Covided out of shape. Getting some neck pain whilst riding and my first thought is shorter stem with some rise. Could it just be because I’m out of shape and not used to the drops?
Good reason for you to have a massage
Try out the bike fast fit app or Cam Nicholls vids on youtube. Loads of useful advise if you don’t want to spend the big bucks on a pro bike fit.
You can make big differences messing around with saddle layback / position / bar height etc...
Also try working on core fitness if been off bike / gym for a while.
Can make a big difference, mine was shot after first lockdown.
I've been getting this a bit. Been riding trail bikes all year, then recently got the grav...I mean cross bike back out. The ride position is lower and more stretched out so my neck is tilted back. Lack of suspension probably not helpful. Also seems to put more strain on my elbows. Anyway I think it just takes some time to get used to.
I get this after a few weeks off the bike. Then I remember to stop looking at the scenery so much, keep my head down.
I've got neck problems but keep the pain at bay with lots of hamstring, back and neck stretches. Obviously get you position sorted out, but getting flexible can really help too
Thanks for the advice. I’ll give it a few more rides and mess about with saddle and bar position.
