I recently got a new bike and am suffering from knee and IT band pain.
I think this must be down to the fit of the new bike. I have had it fitted by a bike shop and things have improved slightly but the knees are still quite sore.
I may try another shop to see if anything else can be suggested.
Does anyone know of any Physios who specialise in cycling in the Inverness area. I was thinking they may be the best person to fit the bike?

road or mtb? can you not replicate position from previous bike?

Significant differences in bike. Old one 10yr old hardtail. New one FS and obviously totally different style.........
Who diagnosed the pain as ITB,and what did they suggest?
can you not replicate distances between the points of contact (hands,feet,arse) between the two bikes?
Hmmm have you got over excited with the new bike and have just overdone it?
Most ITB issues come from 'too much too soon'.

To answer a few queries, yes, I have quite possibly overdone it having a new bike and using it more than my last one.
I know its my IT band as I have had issues with it previously when hill walking but a pair of Superfeet resolved that.
Its a Whyte T130, dont know if thats considered 'long and low'

I had some really bad knee pain early summer when I was messing with saddle height and raised it too much .... lowered it an the problem disappeared.
At least measure from the center of your crank on your old bike to the top of your saddle and compare to the new bike and see how they compare ....... mine was only 5mm difference in saddle height that caused a host of problems but thank goodness was easily resolved.
Lower the saddle and move it forward slightly. About 0.5cm for each. It’s an over exemption injury. I suffered for a few years with this until I changed my position. I also used a foam roller which helped a lot.
Don’t base position on saddle rail clamping, different seat tube angles can give markedly different saddle over bottom bracket positions for the same clamping. Measure the set back from saddle nose to bottoms bracket with a plumb line and see how it compares with your other bikes.

My T-130 medium had 175mm cranks ... didn’t even try and ride it like that or I wouldn’t have been able to walk for a week
