So this is Christmas and the old Inbred town bike is getting retired. So I'm after cycle cross/tourer affair. Will be used for bit of road, shop trips, few mini 2\3 day tours and easy off road. Full mudguard and rear rack fittings required. Also my local shops are Giant and Evans I'd like to try before I buy for sizing oh and I need drop bars and disc brakes. Budget under a grand the lower the better. Any real world experience appreciated as only ridden mountain bikes for 20 years.
That's not asking for much is it?

Judging from your user name it's gotta be this, hasn't it?

If you're near an Evans one of their Pinnacle Arkoses would be my choice.

As above the Arkose would be the obvious choice, my mate is getting one in the new year- I'll get back to you once I've had a look!!

if you go to Evans, I think you can use tesco club card vouchers there at x2 their value - if that helps
