I got a new bike! It arrived this morning and I have just taken it for its first ride.

Check out the valve/logo juxtaposition!

Cheers all.

First impressions are positive although out of the box the fork feels dreadful. The internet tells me they are a pig to set up though, so I will have to spend some time on it. Otherwise I'm very happy and I'm definitely not going to do my usual of buying a new bike and then buying all new parts.

Accept for the saddle, I need something a bit more female friendly. I also didn't like the grips but these are just minor things.

Obviously everyone fits their own personal favourite tyres.

At 14.1kg it is a tad heavy, so possibly I might consider lighter wheels in the future. And it would benefit from a carbon handlebar..

Oh good point. It arrived with a bent rotor (which might well be the courier's fault) so I've had to borrow one from the turbo bike until I can get a replacement.

Sonder Ti - medium (if my guess is correct)
I have a large and the best punt I have made in several years.
Fantastic for confidence and grin inducing fun.

I saw a pre-production one at the London Bike show about 4 years ago and liked the mud clearance and general thought gone into the production.

That's a nice bike. I have the helm air, bit fiddly to get right but really good when you do. I run only one click of low speed and no high. I also have about 8 psi more in the negative chamber which makes them nice and supple in the start.

Cheers Sprocker that's very helpful. Do you find you lose a bit of travel doing that? I wondered if it was worth adjusting them up 10mm at the same time?

I have a Helm air and do the different pressure thing, no loss of travel.

Also don’t dial in too much adjustment, I also only have a couple of clicks on mine.

Awesome forks and they are not that hard to setup despite what the internet says.

Thanks guys. All appreciated. I agree on ESI chunkys got them on my Enduro. I'm thinking yellow ones or maybe pink. I do think it needs a single touch of colour.

Thanks for the set up tips Pete and Sprocker. Fork feels much better now. I thoroughly enjoyed today's ride.

As a reward here is a picture of my bike with a tree.

Looks great! Though I'm staggered it weighs so much for a Ti HT... I have the (almost, I'm not going to get embroiled in a lawsuit unlike the maker of my frame!) identical Titus Zestar, in a Large, and mine is over 1.5kg lighter than yours!

I'm still undecided as to whether I was right to get a large and run a 40mm, or whether I'd have been better with a medium with a slightly longer stem. Anyway...

I do think it needs a single touch of colour.

I agree... See above photo! 😉

First impressions are positive although out of the box the fork feels dreadful. The internet tells me they are a pig to set up though, so I will have to spend some time on it.

I've heard exactly the same thing from people who work for the distributor! Not gonna say it can't be dialled in, but I know people who gave up on it and bought Fox instead... What travel are you running @ incidentally?

I got a Signal last year in XL. I love it and it climbs fantastically, even with me on board! I did look at those RUST bars - nice but I may have to save my pennies...

Lovely! I've got one and it's also not light. Nothing especially light or heavy on there: Hunt trail wide rims, 1x10, XT cranks, no carbon, Nukeproof ally flats. Main weight based choice is 1kg+ Michelin tryes. Weighty, but blimey, they grip! Got some 2.6 Bonty XR2s in the mental shopping basket for longer less gnar rides. that'll save half a kilo.

Still playing with the Helms. I've also thought about removing a spacer to start at 140mm, then back down again with a bit more negative pressure. That's on the lockdown jobs list, but a long way behind a bunch of other stuff! I've a got a click or two of H and L SC, and a bit more pressure than the starting point for my weight. I was still bottoming the fork out more than I felt I should, so I've moved the volume spacer down a couple of notches. Might try one or two more at some point, but right now I'm not really pushing it, as per current situation, so don't need to right now.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed the thread had continued.
Mboy, I think a lot of weight is in the tyres which are huge. I haven't got round to setting them up tubeless yet so hopefully I might lose a touch of weight there, although I might just change them for Trail Kings.
I haven't checked the bottom bracket drop although I do feel a bit perched on it; with the saddle at road height I can't get my feet anywhere near the floor! I just presumed it had short cranks 🙂

The fork is much better having used the advice above and had a bit of a play with it. I'm going to see what the shockwiz makes of it
though. It's still at 130mm but I'm itching to try it at 140mm and run a bit more negative pressure.

I went with pink in the end. Apologies for another wonky tree.
