I've got a 2011 Stumpjumper FSR elite and I think the bottom bracket has gone as there's loads of play. The only trouble is i think it runs a sram gxp bottom bracket.
Do i have to get another gxp or could i use a hollotech 11 bb? Ideally i'd like a shimano one as i already have the tools and they're cheaper
Cheers
If it's SRAM crank arms, then yes, you'll need another GXP. Price isn't too different from a HTII though is it? Tools are also the same.
If your crankset is doing fine I'd just bung in another cheap GXP. You can use Hope or similar if you get a convertor if you want extra bling.
But Hollowtech and GXP aren't compatible so unless you are going to get Hollowtech cranks or go with Hope and buy an adaptor, then you are stuck with sram!

Didn't type quick enough 😀
Thanks for your help
So can I go for this?

Get the Hope and the adapter just file a groove in the face to make it easier to remove before you fit it.
Yes.
