Hello!
I may well be doing something daft so please bear with me.
Bought new SRAM Dub GXP bb as old one was very grindy. Removed old one, measured it against new and they are the exact same size so discarded spacers that came with new one.
Greased everything up, installed new BB and tried reinstalling crankset. I cannot get the drive side flush against the new BB. I have reinstalled non drive side to try to pull it in that way and used my favourite hammer (with some cushioning) to persuade it home. Still no joy.
Do I need the spacers after all? BB listed on Wiggle as 68/73mm, Whyte shows spacing on bike as 73mm, but I'm thrown by the fact the BB's were the same size anyway.
Thanks!
PS Old bb was SRAM GXP XR, BSA, 73mm as per spec, new BB is SRAM GXP Team Bottom Bracket 68/73mm
Dub (29mm)Â and GXP (24ish) are different.
Which one have you got ?
Dub has a preload collar ?
If it's GXP, then that's correct. The non drive bearing is clamped between the crank, and the step on the axle. The axle floats in the drive side bearing, so doesn't need to be snugged against the crank.
