Today I sold my kinesis Decade Virsa which was brilliant but to small for me (16") after a medium frame but I don't have a back catalogue of frames in my head these days so don't know what has what.

Needs- 68/73mm BB, 135mm qr dropouts, tapered headtube (ideally 44mm) 30.9mm seattube or larger, would be nice to have cable routing for seatpost but not ideal. Don't mind slack as my forks have a climb mode lowering them 30% but somewhere around 68' would be ideal, already have a bigger bike for the fun stuff.

Would prefer steel, and to be around 2kg- loved my old Genesis which was sub 2kg, but old frames all have skinny headtubes!

Will probably go out and buy a heavy on one as I'm inpatient (only sold about 5 hours ago!) but would be good to hear any suggestions of what's out there, sadly Cotic Soul seems like it ticks all of the boxes, but I can't find a cheap one and think they're boring- I see too many of them around!

Anywho, cheers in advance...

Looked at them, brother had one which he liked, but heavier than I expected and expensive. Unless I can find one around 2kg, I might as well get an On one as they're dirt cheap- just read that the newer Genesis Latitudes are almost 3kg too- thinking a frame needs reynolds steel.

Weight is overrated, my hardtail is 32.5 pounds and a total riot

What @podge says. Frame weight especially is such a strange obsession. I don't really focus on frame numbers either but have a look at Cotic BFe. There are many good choices out there, buy what you fancy and buy British !

Remember that steel frame weights seem to have increased due to the need to withstand the crash tests

What he says. Steel frames are heavy now, mostly. The lightest I can think of without going 'expensive' is the 2016 NS Eccentric at 2.5kg I think.

Just get a Ragley Marley, 2kg, very well made for the cash. £250 frame and we are running an offer to get a free bar/stem/saddle combo worth £125 just now. Goes up on our facebook and web shop later today, just after this coffee.... zzz.... Pedals Bike Care

It applies to a bunch of other frames as well - Blue Pigs, Bigwigs and Marleys all up for grabs. Mmmbops in a few weeks.

Awesome! Hope you like it.

You can also fit 27.5x3.0 in a Blue Pig, if you were to adjust for fork length to bring the bb back down, and 27.5x2.8 in an Mmmbop, but the three finger bridge hits the nobs on a full 3"

We have been putting B+ tyres in lots of frames 😀

You can get a 2.75X26" tyre in a 45650b, clearance isn't huge but it's enough.

The FF29 doesn't really exist any more, only a couple of smalls left in stock. Sad times indeed.

I would say a spiritual successor would be the Zealous Division MK2, I think the new version looks stunning and would be an amazing 'FF29-a-like'

We could look at doing one of those with the Ragley kit bundle if you were interested.
