I’m in the market for a bike having not had one for a good few years and after previous posts and suggestions am currently looking at the new Orbea Laufey H30

or the new Norco Fluid 1 HT
https://www.evanscycles.com/norco-fluid-1-ht-2020-mountain-bike-EV363971

My previous bike (circa 10 yrs ago) was a DMR Trailstar and before that (around 1999) an orange P7. Looking at circa £1000 mark but haven’t any experience of the above manufacturers.

What are thoughts on spec against each other - like the thought of 12 gears over 11 but what about SHimano v SRAM and fork spec, recon v Sektor. Brakes perhaps not great but future upgrade? Can’t find new geometry in the Norco but reading the description suggests similar (low HA, steep seat angle) so should both allow decent climbing as well as descent.

Alternatively do I wait for further sales around autumn? Bit conflicted at the minute!
Cheers

These look pretty good value:

I haven't seem one on the flesh but was looking at the 27.5 version in GO and was impressed

Thanks, yeah that looks pretty good too. Always skeptical about in house brands though....must be a bit of a snob ha. Can’t find any reviews on mine for this model.
