Anyone know if this is a safe route from Edinburgh?
I am picking up a new bike on Friday and wanted to take it for a local spin before I return home and the only route I can find is this one.
Thanks
Where you heading from /to?
It's a well used route, though some instances recently but by all accounts that's mainly involving one individual.
If you're picking up from Evans / Biketrax what about heading along the canal for a bit then down the new Roseburn link and along the Roseburn path for a bit? Wider and a bit less congested than canal.
Absolutely fine. Don't speed under the bridges, and walk the Slateford Viaduct. I used to commute along it most days.
Thanks.
Picking up from Biketrax and then back to Peebles to ride Glentress Friday pm & Saturday am
Yeah, it's a grand route. There have been some issues with a guy threatening people lately but there was a visible police presence and it's calmed down. There's also a small diversion right outside Biketrax just now but it doesn't add any distance to the route.
You really need a bell on it - ring before you go under any bridges. Keep to the left. If you reach the aqueduct, don't get off and walk, keep riding. If you're heading away from town you have right of way, if you're going back to town then give way to people coming towards you by stopping.
