I'm genuinely excited about this 😎
Though it's a pity the weather's gone shit ☹️
Can you tell what it is?
Not had one wrapped like that before!
Luckily it seems to have survived (apart from a bent ISCG tab ☹️)
Mmmm, silvery
Couple of red bits fitted...
Nice! Did the ISCG tab just straighten back out again?
Very nice. What are you building it up with?

I'm not using a chain device, so left it for now.
It's steel though, so should straighten out easily if needed.

😎 Mostly bits from my old Ragley Bluepig + a few bits from the spares bin.
RS Revelation 150mm forks with a charger 2.1 upgrade (so basically a Pike).
Mixed Microshift and Shimano 11spd gears.
Hope BB, HS, seat clamp and Pro 4 27.5+ wheelset. TRP Evo brakes + bunch of other parts.
Full 27.5+, so 3.0f and 2.8r tyres.
What Microshift are you using? I wasn't sure it was compatible with much of the Shimano stuff?

XLE, which is fully compatible with Shimano 11spd.
I'm using a MS shifter and cassette with a Shimano derailleur.
Originally was all MS, but I killed the mech on a rock, and got a cheap Shimano mech in the CRC fire sale.
Ah fair enough, iv got Advent x which isn't as compatible thus the slight confusion. Really good kit though.
Actually just looked and it's XCD not XLE (easy mistake to make!)
XCD is higher spec similar to SLX or XT, whereas XLE is closer to Deore.
All good solid kit though 👍
Very nice! Welcome to the Moxie party!
Cheers 😁 I just want it to stop raining now so I can ride it!
It's going to be a bit of a monster truck!
Indeed! It seems the chunky/+ tyres of a few years ago have lost some of the hype there was. I've only ridden a couple and it struck me for the average rider on chunky trails they were great - but they are not race winners.
Eldest_oab has been running Microshift or Box for 2 years now. He was chewing through expensive Shimano kit through wear and tear (7 days a week riding on Queenstown bike park...) or smashing it. He can get Microshift or Box components for so much less, and he claims it's more durable from a wear point of view. He's also regressed back to 10sp for similar reasons.
Finally got out for a proper shakedown ride - I was at SSUK last weekend so gears were a no-no 😁
What a hoot, stupidly capable on the downs, and climbs surprisingly well (steep seat tubes do work!).
Slight loose headset (that became apparent after a few km) that needs another 1-2mm of spacers, meant I didn't push it too hard on the downs.
Did a 40km xc loop with plenty of techy single-track. Lovely 😎
those leaves need sweeping up
@Del I'll get right to it Captain 🫡
This new frame is (partly) your fault. Last ride we were on you or Torsten mentioned the Moxie, and it hit me thinking. Dangerous! 😆
glad i could help. 🤣 TBF it's payback for the tabs that seemed to get opened at fairly regular intervals on the stooge and surly websites...
i'll look forward to having a quick on the moxie. 😉

This is something I find my Moxie is so good at - it feels great on long pedally rides (even though it’s not light) and on the most technical trails I have the skill to ride, so whatever I do it never feels like I’m on the wrong bike.
P.S. I’m not sure why you were waiting for it to stop raining - did you forget it’s got ENORMOUS mudguards? 😉

True 😊
Though I wanted the maiden voyage to be in the lovely dry, dusty conditions we'd had all summer, but I bit the bullet and fitted guards in the end! TBF it was surprisingly dry considering the biblical rain we've had here over the last week.
I am wondering whether I could squeeze a 200mm dropper in there...currently running a 170mm with about 60mm of post showing. Think the max insertion depth is about 260mm and most 200mm droppers are about 540mm long. Might just work 🧐
Update after a month of ownership and about 250km ridden...
Loving this bike 😁 it's definitely the most capable descender I've ever owned. It wears it's length lightly (if that makes sense?!) so, so stable, but still flickable on tight single-track. Climbs like a goat too, set a few PRs on some steep local techy climbs.....just a great all rounder.
Managed to fit a 200mm post - exactly at the max insert depth! And fitted some shorter (165mm) slx cranks as the BB is pretty low. Also trying out a Box Two derailleur, which mated with an XT shifter is giving lovely smooth gear shifting.
