The main pivot inserts came unbonded in my v2 Sentinel and while I was waiting for a warranty replacement I realised I had a cycle scheme voucher available and an opportunity to sell the frame with a brand new front triangle and so of course one thing led to another.
New tyres & shock but otherwise just transferred everything over. Hoping to get out for a first ride today or tomorrow.
Lovely colour and I've always liked that straight line from dropout to head tube.
Looks lovely. What’s the rear shock?
Oooh that's nice.
+1 for liking bikes with the top tube in line with the stays 👍
Great colour. Presuming that's the new V3 frame as it looks like it has in-frame storage?
Always fancied a Sentinel V2 because the geometry looks pretty bonkers for a mid-travel trail bike but they've dialled things back a bit and steepened the head tube angle for the V3. OP, would be interesting to hear your take on how it rides vs the V2.
Nice!, Where did you purchase the frame from?
That looks amazing! Love the little touches of yellow.

That's an Ohlins TTX22m.2

That's right, it's a v3. One piece rocker link, mullet-ability, in frame storage and internal routing that allows for UK style brakes were the things that made me want to update.

Personally I loved my v2 as a toned down enduro bike rather than a "trail bike" if you know what I mean. I was initially worried about the geo changes making it more conservative but thinking more about it the head angle change is only 0.4 degrees, the chain stays have got longer (in a size L) and the seat angle steeper so I reckon overall it'll feel similar or more stable.
Changing to the mullet configuration would put it right back close to v2 geometry (63.6 head angle, slightly shorter stays) so my guess is that it'll be a similar ride. I'll report back!
I was also running a cascade link on the v2 which gave it a softer top stroke, firmer end stroke and 165mm travel. The v3 is running at 160mm (you can do that with a 65mm stroke shock) but I reckon it'll be a bit more lively / less plough-ey with the standard Transition link.

Brink - looks like I was lucky and got the last size L purple currently in stock at the distributor.
That looks amazing! Love the little touches of yellow.
Thanks, me too! I think it looks great against the frame colour.
Looks awesome.
Hope you keep a stash of dairy milk in the down tube when it's cool enoght not to melt 😀
Very nice that, love the colour!
very good! very nice!
Very nice indeed.
More points could have been earned for a purple Reign.

Agreed. It’s hard to hold a candle to a purple Reign.
That looks phenomenal, enjoy
Very nice! Love my Spur and looking to change my bigger bike so this is on the list!
That is a beautiful thing.
Jeez. Standards are slipping in this place. 17 replies and no mention of the state of your garden ... Your grass needs cutting, and your path needs weeding AND sweeping ... 🙄
Lovely bike though.
I'd love a Spur as a short travel FS bike. I did consider a Smuggler and V2 Sentinel as my main FS bike a couple of years back, but both were a bit pricey for what they were though ... But they make some great looking bikes.

You should see the rest of the garden...
Hey OP, what colour was the one you sold? I bought a Sentinel frame with brand new front triangle earlier this year for my son. He bloody loves it!
It's not sold yet (stealth ad), I need to clean it up and bolt the new front triangle on for some photos but it's loam gold just like your son's - also a fantastic colour if I say so myself!
The thread title didn't prepare me for just how purple a purple thing can be.
It's beautiful.
I couldn't or wouldn't resist adding a couple little bits of blue to match the dials and seals, maybe seat clamp, headset spacers, axles. Those pedals are on my possible next purchase short list, what's your verdict on them.
I’m coming from nukeproof pedals with chromag dagga pins which were like velcro and honestly I find these a little lacking in grip by comparison.
I’ve just today fitted them with some longer and sharper pins though so I’m hoping that fixes things as I do like the big platform and overall shape.
I love the colour scheme on that bike. I can't get the idea out of my head that the rear coil is actually an ejector seat mechanism that makes a loud 'KA-SPROING' saound when it launches you into the air.
First ride today at Redlands and it was great! The suspension feels more "lively" than the v2 + cascade link in a really good way, I found I needed to time jumps a little differently and then suddenly I was overshooting them. It also seems to spring/accelerate out of corners more when you pump. By the end of the ride I felt right at home on the bike and have the suspension nicely dialled in.
@noeffsgiven the pedals with the mega-pins were spot on.
Matches the (I think?) rhododendrons that were in bloom everywhere.

Good looking bike, but for purpleness, the Deep Purple on a Dialled Alpine can't be beaten (I might be biased tho 😉).
