You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
60th birthday present from me to me turned up (a few months early).
Nothing fancy or custom, just a stock Rise H15 with a bigger rotor and Spoon-a-like saddle out the spares box.
Not intended to replace primary bike (we'll see how that goes) but to allow me to extend the 'local' rides into the hills (Southern Uplands Scotland).
One ride only so far but surprised me how similar it feels to my Yeti SB6 - considering they are 7 years and a wheel size apart. SB6 is a large and the Orbea is a XL.
One thing I don't like - how poorly Shimano Ispec suits us larger handed people - need to source some ispec bar clamp converters for the shifter and dropper lever to move further inboard.

Schweet.
I've got its stronger, fatter brother.
Cool colour. 😎
Very nice bike - excellent colour choice :o)
That looks quite handsome.
Didn't expect to be saying that about an eeb.
Very nice! I must admit, the Rise is a very convincing package on paper, 'just enough' in all areas to get me looking for a man maths investment strategy!
More pics and ride review please, very interested!
lovely bike ! If I ever replace my Levo SL that will be a strong contender ! The Rise wasn't around 2 yrs ago when I bought the Spesh..

One finger on the brakes?
The OP is enormous!
@intheborders always - maybe I just have extra long digits?
Ispec EV allows a fair range of lateral and angular movement of the shifter/dropper lever relative to the brake lever. Moved it fully inboard?
The OP is enormous!
Aye, you'd get altitude sickness sat on that saddle.
😉
That's lovely, I don't say that lightly about eBikes.
And it's lovely to see a proper sized bike on here too.
@sillyoldman - triggers fully inboard on their EV mounts. I have EV shifters on my Yeti but mated to the Hope Tech 3 adaptor which seems to place the controls much further inboard so they work for me. My GF on the other hand has the opposite issue, she can't reach the triggers on her EV setup with her tiny thumbs so has had to resort to a bar clamp converter to get them further outboard. We are starting to sound like a couple of circus freaks 🙂
* UPDATE *
Thought I check in with a brief update... really enjoying rides on this bike, not done anything mentally tech but plenty of km's amongst SW Scotland. Been using mostly for longer rides (40-50km) in our local hills and some stages on the Southern Upland Way including plenty of singletrack.
Found it really comfortable (6ft2 on XL). Impressed with the Fox Performance suspension - works for me and my level of riding.
The first couple months have not been without issue though. The bike frame is very nicely built but the factory assembly was poor. Most issues have come from that - I shouldn't have to rebuild the suspension linkage out the box because it hasn't been torqued correctly.
Latest issue is a bugger though - doesn't look like the freehub specced by Orbea (same on H30) is up to the job and it let go on last ride in the hills. Magnet test suggests it is alloy - probably needs to be steel. Warranty claim in with MTB Monster but likely get same model freehub back (seems to be a Chosen Hubs SFH-04B-12S). I'm not a masher but we have done a bucket load of climbing in recent weeks.
Maybe time to upgrade the wheels?

Ouch.
That is a lovely looking bike.
Re wheels, I'm thinking to upgrade/change an eeb from pawl to ratchet freehub so DT Swiss or Mavic E-DeeMax as I think they will cope with the extra load better.
I upgraded the wheels on my H15 to DT 350 hubs on XM481 rims (self built). Main reason was that the axle spacers on the front hub are steel and they kept sticking to the alloy axle after wet rides despite being greased up. On one occasion it took every bit of mechanical knowledge I had to get them, out without damage to anything. I am currently back on my original wheels though due to tyre setups. Not had any free-hub issues though in 1K km riding though.
The wheels are a known weakpoint on these. Orinally they were coming with Shimano hubs which were a bit more robust I think.
Those DT's on CRC would be a good upgrade and cheaper than a custom build
Lovely Rise! Just back from an awesome week in the Lakes with mine.
I've an M20 and am selling the Raceface AR30 on Shimano (sealed bearing) hubs with or without rotors so message if interested.
They're plenty good enough but I had some other wheels transferred over from my old bike.
@rockthreegozy Orbea are sending another of the exact same freehub so a set of the DT's off CRC are now with me 🙂
fwiw I've done nearly 3000 miles on my ebike using either standard DT 350 hubs or a ebike specific DT H19000 wheelset and not had any problems. Seem pretty durable.
* UPDATE to the UPDATE *
Received a replacement freehub from Orbea under warranty and the new part is steel rather than alloy so better suited for the job I suspect. However, I had already went with those DT Swiss HX1501 off CRC to keep rolling and they will be staying on.
This lower-power eeb thing is intriguing, particularly now there's more choice entering the market. It'll be a year or two before I'm ready to take the plunge... maybe the next Rise will be with us then?
