Hurrah, today was the day I got the new bike dirty on the first shakedown ride.

I have to say I’m well chuffed with it. Bearing in mind I was budgeting for £5K, this at £3,900 seems a steal. I don’t think there are any parts wanting upgrade for my meagre skills and I’m not sure how much happier I would have been had I spent 3k more on the Whyte I was eyeing up.  Special mention to the brakes which are amazingly powerful and I’m also liking the axs shifting.  I had a TruTune insert in my existing pikes so that has gone into the Pike Ultimates on this.

I’m not so keen on the mud trap between the swingarm and the motor body.  I need to fill that in with moto foam or cover it with a mud flap as any stones getting in there could cause a right mess as the suspension moves. Dropper already seems a bit temperamental too.

It’s my first e-bike and seemingly a low power motor, but in eMTB mode, it was not at all strained to get up the steep valley sides around here. I can’t see why more power would be needed.  Boost just felt crazy, but would rinse the battery.

I will just need to reign in the giddiness of going everywhere “fast”.  The intention was to get a trail bike with a bit of assistance.

First ride stats, 24miles, 890m elevation and 16% of the internal 400wh battery left.

Being a bit thick - what is it?

The lawn definitely needs a trim and your mailbox should really have your house number on it.

How are you finding the size. I note you went for a large. And what does it weigh with pedals pls?

Size large feels spot on for me.  Sitting on it feels just right. Needs another cm or two seat post out.

I’ll try and weigh it, the pedals are OneUp composite. I’ve also put a Rimpact in the rear.

@nomad based on my luggage scales which usually correlate to check in desk scales, it’s a hair under 20kg, with pedals, tubeless with rimpact.
