Not really NBD but definitely first proper ride out day which is probably close enough.

Custom allroad designed by me, sanity checked and built by Titan. It's basically very similar geometry to my Spesh Allez which it's replacing but with clearance for 40mm tires and fitted with disc brakes.

Build is a mixed bag, polished Ritchey bar/stem/post and wheels, Wolf Tooth gold stuff for a bit of bling and TRP Spyres and their matching singlespeed levers and then SQ Lab sale and tape. It goes a bit off-piste with the Senicx gravel crankset which I originally bought for use on the turbo when the Allez was a purely indoor bike but which work well enough.

Annoyingly, Wolf Tooth brought out a new silver chainring which would really suit the build but it won't fit that crankset and I'm trying to resist buying a new crankset just to get the chainring. I'll fail to resist but I at least want to try and put up a bit of a fight!

Chain tension is taken care of by a First Components external eccentric bottom bracket, something else I used on the Allez, and which is surprisingly solid. I could have gone with sliding dropouts like my other Titan but wanted a clean look and the ebb works fine so went with that approach on a standard BSA bb shell.

Forks came with the frame, still not sure about the closed axle design - looks clean but I'm wary of overtightening it and pushing the insert through the carbon. In fairness, if I do manage to do that then it'll be entirely my own fault.

All told, pretty pleased with it - I think I've kept just on the right side of tacky which was the aim, one more bit of gold would push it over the edge!

Well it's nice, but as it's more of a road bike than a gravel bike, it should be a tixie. 😁

Hmmm, I'm starting to think that calling it a tinglespeed wasn't the best idea I'd ever had...

I'll pass on the concerns about the grass to the farmer, I'm sure they'll appreciate some guidance on where they're going wrong 😆

That’s nice. I know someone would say it’ll need buffing up blah blah blah but I’d just strip the ano off those cranks with some oven cleaner or weak caustic soda dip and then have the silver look

That's not a bad idea actually, I should have thought of that - cheers!

Tixie! Thanks. That’s a better name than “Shiny the Fixed”. Which is the name of my Enigma fixed wheel Echo.

OP Nice bike, needs some shiny Campag pista record cranks though. Mine also has titanium stem and seatpost to match the frame.

For absolutely no good reason I don't trust titanium stems, otherwise that's exactly what I would have done. That looks like a fairly stiff gear on that Enigma btw!

That's a good looking bike, but it definitely needs silver cranks and chainring.

Slightly left of field I'm tempted to go with the Gentic AQ on my Colibri Ti

Nice 👍🏻

It got me looking through your previous build threads. Are Titan now your preferred builder? Your earlier ones were Waltly, what’s the differences?

Yeah, I've had three Waltlys (still got two and wish I'd never sold the other) and this is my second Titan, still use the first.  There's not a lot to choose between them to be honest, I'd probably go for Titan again if I was getting another one anytime soon but that's mainly because my experience with them is slightly more current. Fit and finish them is more or less on a par with each other, Titan is possibly a touch cheaper and although Waltly have good comms, Titan are on another level.  Waltly do seem to have more 3d printing options if that's what you want.

I've had to use customer services post-sale with both companies and they were both really easy to deal with.  With Waltly I thought I had an oversized seat-tube because I couldn't get my RaceFace post to stop slipping. I emailed Walty who just asked for a video of the saddle slipping even after being tightened and then they sent me out a ti seatpost free of charge.  Turns out... my RaceFace seatpost was actually well undersized - 31.2 or something from memory and the 31.6 Waltly post fit perfectly.

First Titan had no issues, this one wasn't an issue with the frame but the forks had got lightly scuffed in transit - they asked for a photo and then sent me a replacement pair which was with me within about a week or so and said I could keep the scuffed pair to do whatever with. (If anyone wants a pair of lightly scuffed allroad carbon forks then let me know)

As I say, pretty much on a par but Waltly did email me out of the blue during Covid to make sure I was ok and not dead so can't ask for more than that really!

I suspect I'll get something made by XCAD next, not sure what at this stage though, then I'll have tried the three main custom manufacturers in China and I'll feel like I've completed the set.

I actually thought you had misspelled tringlespeed (like a dinglespeed but with 3 gears) and I was about to get irate because as far as I know I'm the only one doing that.

But yes, looks like I'm still the only one doing that 🙂

Nice bike, by the way!

Ha, not a chance - I'm one of those people for whom dinglespeeds (or tringlespeeds apparently) make absolutely no sense at all!

I've not tried one but they seem as if they'd be the worst of all worlds 😉
