Planning a spring trip to wales, we normally do one day natural one day trail centre. Last year we did the gap and bpw. This year it's north wales.
Any suggestions for a decent XC route near coedybrenin, 25 ish miles with a bit of elevation and some nice scenery. Or is there enough at coedybrenin to last 2 days?
thanks

You've got a loop for Pont Scethin which is cool. There is a few gpx files about online I think or description at least.

You've also got Cadair Idris which is nice to do.

ahh yes Cadair idris was the one I was thinking of, just couldn't remember the name.

being an actual mountain. Any good?

Yes, it's a cracking. Snowdon not to far away either.

You could also make two days riding at Coedy pretty easily as well, there's plenty to go at.

Doing the same myself in April, had planned on doing the Marin and Coed-y-Brenin, but might sack off Marin and do Cadair Idris based on this!

it's been covered by some magazine or other as a 'classic'

Guys who stayed with us a couple of years back did what they called The Epic Brenin.
Here's the article in SingleTrack magazine.

Pont Scethin is the obvious classic really - awesome loop either direction. And if you're good for longer distances, then start in the south, near Bontddu and make it into a kind of lollipop. I could also recommend a really good book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wales-Mountain-Biking-Tom-Hutton/dp/1906148139 Well, I would, wouldn't I! Email me (In profile) if you need a GPX for the above. Or anything else really...

Just found this - can anyone tell me whether the stw Cadair Idris route is the same as the flattyres one please, as it appears the gpx is still not up for the STW one 😈

Yes there's only one legitimate way to/from the summit - recommend you look at and take a map!

I remember doing a trailquest at Coed-y-Brenin back in the day. It had a special map which stupidly I have lost but there was a lot of excellent off-piste stuff around the forest

I sure you could find all the off piste stuff by looking at the strava heat map
