Didn't work for me.

I tried it on a 1x9 set-up I'd previously been running with a chain catcher. Chain jumped off all the time on descents. Switched to running a 10sp chain, cassette and clutch mech and its worked flawlessly since.

Superstar N/W chainring with 9sp XT everything else. Works flawlessly and never dropped a chain in the last 6 months.

Worked fine for me for 12 months. Only issues I had was when it was almost up for changing, then it started to drop occasionally on fast rocky DH stuff.

I'm now running 9spd cassette and mech with a NW and a 10spd chain which seems to be better, maybe because it's a new chain, maybe because it's a little narrower.
