Hi,

Still looking for narrow - like for contemporary standards - tough, 29er tyre for my T129S.

Minion DHR 2.3 came 57.5mm on 26.5mm internal width rim, and is just barely fitting. No clearance for anything else than very thin air on the sides. Clearance front-rear not brilliant either but much better in comparison.

So if anybody got one of these below and can help with little caliper exerciser I would really appreciate.

Spesh Butcher 29x2.3
Spesh Eliminator 29x2.3
Vittoria Goma 29x2.25
WTB Vigilante 29x2.3
WTB Trail Boss 29x2.25
Conti Trail King II 29x2.2
Conti Mountain King 29x2.3

On-One Smorgs is too wide, at 58mm 🙁

Or any other good options if you have anything in mind...

Cheers!
I.

Must be a narrow frame - no actual measurements but the 2.4” trailboss (650b) is pretty narrow for its size - mainly because it doesn’t have side knobs that stick out very much. So you might find the 2.25” trailboss could be a good option. Hopefully someone will be along with some measurements for you.

I’ve only had it a while in tough / fast casing which I bought for some rocky stuff in North Wales (Antur mainly) but it rolls fast and grips ok in dry weather. I’ve heard the fast compound can be a bit slippery in the wet and I imagine it’d clog in muddy conditions quite quickly. Perfect for the summer and trail centres though.

Yeah, Whyte T129 is narrow as heck up rear. That is really shame...

Originally, 2014 mode that is mine, was specked with 2.1 Maxxis Crossmark. But that is rubber for rather mellow riding...

Managed to stick WTB Bronson 2.2 OK, but it wasn't to my likings... Recently was riding Minion 27.5x2.6 but fancy coming back to 29er.

Cheers!

I bet a database of tyre measurements would be dead useful

WOW!!! That is one helluvalot of data base. Thanks a lot honourablegeorge

Why I'm not the slightest surprised it's compiled by Germans 😀

2.1 would be probably last resort, that I'd rather avoid...

In case of 2.1 will probably try to get hold of good 'ole Panaracer Fire XC Pro.

Cheers!

As I've just posted on another thread, my 2.25 trail boss comes up pretty wide. It is a 27.5 though, and on a 30mm rim.

I used to run a Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.25 in the back of my 2015 model. It was just narrow enough....

I haven't got the bike now so can't take any measurements..

maybe consider a different rim as well - I have  T129RS 2016 model with WTB 23mm internal width. Maxxis DHF, DHR2 and high roller 2.3 all fit with that rim. Trail Boss 2.25 fits as well but it's not a great tyre when it's soggy! Think the WTB are more true to size. Trail King fits with ease. Not tried a Mountain King due to previous bad experience though the new one might be OK. The Vittoria 2.3 will be too big though. No measurements I am afraid just experience with the stock rims. I tend to stick with DHR2 out back.

Whole wheel is budget, last minute swap. So won't be doing re-lacing or swapping.
Not cost effective. Hence considering narrower tyre. It is until end of year or so, so not that fussed anyways.

Thanks for input!

Cheers!
