A mate has acquired an aging racer from an elderly relative, it's long since been resprayed/de-stickered and he's wondering what frame it is. Can anyone offer any clues from the attached dodgy mobile phone pics of the distinctive joins?

Would the Raleigh written on the shifters be a clue to the make?

Just guessing and I have no idea of the model.

Struggling to upload pics at the mo but the dropouts appear to have BREV CAMPAGNOLO stamped on them 🙂

I say appear as I could only read the drive side and there's a bolt covering part of the stamp.

There were some numbers on the underside of the BB - I can get a better pic if it's likely to be helpful;

Could be anything - campag use to sell lugs & drop outs for frame builders to put together as was their desire and then stamp with their own number. Was / is there a local frame builder? They may records dating back relating frame number?

as liquid says this could be from any number of frame builders. quite hard to work it out if there are no other markings or history from previous owners.

based on lack of braze-ons and the quality of the lugs and dropouts, it's likely to be a 531 if british, or columbus if italian... you can tell which if you take the bottom bracket out and see which way the threads turn..

I'd recon it was built in late 70's (due to lack of braze-ons)

It could be anything. Lug sets and ends are fairly standard fare.
The serial number looks mass market, possibly Holdsworth.
Clauds and carltons tended to have a curved rear brake bridge and very slim stays.
Matching number should be on the steerer.
If it's a Raleigh it'll have their unique thread on the BB and headset.
But I must have had loads of frames like that when I was younger, shops like Reg Barnett, Don Farrel, Birds Of Colindale would have them hanging up ready to go.
