...made me want to actually use the word "stoked" 😆
Ok, so in the grand scheme of things it wasn't huge by modern standards, but at 3 bike lengths it was big enough for me. At the start of the morning I wasn't even landing half way. After a few attempts I finally cleared it - smoothly - and could not be more chuffed. Can't wait to do some more... 😀
Nice!
Sweet, bra **high fives**
Pic's (or it didn't happen) 😆
I must not have woken up yet.
I genuinely thought the this was going to be a woodworking thread.
Best feeling in the world.
I was with Jamie also, was going to suggest oval nails, punched below flush and matching wood stopper........??. Nice jump. 🙂
Great feeling isn't it. I finally managed maybe three different ones this year after a couple of years back MTBing.
Not three bike lengths though, that's huge by my standards 😆

I wouldn't recommend nailing the top if it's solid as it needs to be able to expand and contract freely. You want to use 'buttons' which attach to the underside and underframe and allow the timber to move naturally.
As for the bike tabletop.....
I keep meaning to go to Farmer Johns. In fact, why don't NWMTB do a demo day there instead of the fairly dull Roman Lakes!?
I bought a full face just so I could go, and then found myself too busy all summer 🙁

That's exactly what I was coming into the thread to say.*
*It wasn't.
My six year old hit a wee jump in the BMX park yesterday (well, his rear wheel didn't quite leave the ground, but his front did, and he properly committed to it). The elated/terrified/elated/relieved expression on his face was a joy to watch.
Good work, still trying to clear the table top at Hamsterley but keep dabbing my brakes!
What's farmer John's like? Fancy getting out there for a day soon.
What's farmer John's like?
First visit. It was so ace I joined for a year. Plenty of stuff for me to work up to and I can't wait to go again.

It's a downhill venue rather than a trail centre, so a bit limited in it's scope for demoing anything that doesn't have gravity on your side.
Really?instead of the fairly dull Roman Lakes!?
Roman Lakes are my local trails and if you know the whole area, it's anything but dull 🙂
Edit: Well done ST. that vid looked great fun.
Top man 8)
if your ever up wigan way gimme a shout cos in my local woods we have a couple of nice (bigger by the looks of it) quite safe tables you could play on till your hearts content 🙂

It's a prescribed loop for the demo. A nice technicalish climb, lots of boring double-track threading between horses, then one descent which doesn't have any corners on it or tech features.
Didn't mean to knock Roman Lakes.
Obviously I was meaning for demoing gravity-oriented bikes. Farmer Johns would be good, no?
