I’ve got an opportunity to ride in the North York Moors area on Friday. Never been there and don’t know much about the place.

I’ve dug around through hundreds of the old MBR route guides I had squirreled away and found one called ‘Rosedale & Fryup’ which loops south out of Danby and goes anti clockwise around Danby High Moor on the OS map. I can’t go into specifics without writing out the whole route, so apologies, but any locals know it? There doesn’t seem to be a plethora of options except a few in the SE corner, so I’m hoping it is a well known local route.

Any advice gratefully accepted!

We did a route round Danby a few years back and I really liked it. The route basically follows the skyline round in a circle. We joined the route at Stonegate and went anticlockwise across to Danby Beacon, down to Danby, up across Danby Rigg, across Glaisdale Moor to Glaisdale then the road back up to the caravan. From memory this is a classic route for the area and many other routes take in part of it.

I think I've done that one (or a variation of it) but I can't remember whether or not it took in the best stuff around Rosedale. Can you post a pic of the route map?

I can prooooobably dig you out a link to a good route from Rosedale if you like.

I’ve photographed the map, do you still have to post it on the internet to link to it here?

The Yorkshire Cycle hub in Fryupdale could be a good place to start. Goid starting point for rides in any direction, top cafe and facilities. I'm sure they'd help with route too.

@tomd.

Thanks mate, that is practically on the route I want to do, so looks like that is a go.

Ace, let us know how you go (I can't find the GPS on my phone, I can post directions from Rosedale if needed though). There's some brilliant trails around there.
