There are a few bridleways around the place. What's the area like for riding? Boggy or rideable? Not looking for gnar, just pleasant trails.
It’s a funny place. I’m pretty local to them and don’t go there that often but every time I do go it’s lovely.
They’re a little bit of quiet wilderness in the summer when the Pembs coastline is heaving. Big views and solitude. Not very much gnar.
Not a place to go after a wet spell; so that means most of the time! There are sections that aare permanent bogs of doom.
The classic route starts in Newport to the north. Come south over Carn Ingli then through the Gwaun valley and up to the main road. Follow the Preseli ‘ridge’ from west to east. At the east end head north back to Newport.
There’s some good cheeky stuff around Ingli and the Gwaun and the quarries near Rosebush.
If you’re coming to Pembrokeshire then bring your bike but I wouldn’t come on a mountain biking holiday here!
Its basically good, traditional, old-skool mountain biking. Did this 10 years ago as a way of christening a new bike Map and photos on Geograph Its similar to the route that @lister describes, without the Newport and Carn Ingli bits. I noted at the time that it has a bit of a tendency to boginess, but I'd not let that put me off if I were down that way again. Well worth the effort.
I have done little bits when visiting family down there. It gets very boggy in places when it's rained, but dries out fairly quickly.
This video is a good indication of what's there.

I always bring a bike 🙂 If the kids bring theirs for cyclepaths and whatnot then I like to bring my rigid MTB, however looking at the map I'd clearly be better off with a road bike. I just wondered if there would be any other reason to have the MTB. I'm looking at parking the caravan somewhere between say Cardigan and Fishguard, and it would primarily be a beach holiday.
There is a route there in this book. I've not ridden that one but most of the routes in the book are decent.
