Bought a Specialized Myka today for my wife, picking it up tomorrow.
Sales person said 19" frame was as small as he would recommend, but we opted for a 17" as I though 19 was too big.
I have since seen a sizing guide and it points to a 15.5" frame for my wife's height of 5'5"-5'6".
I know these guides are approximate, but should I be awkward and request an even smaller frame ?
Anyone out there got one of these ? If so what size / how tall ?
Thanks
Mrs TJ just bought one - she is 5'5" and got a 17. The 15 was tiny - her knees would have almost hit the bars.
Remember its a women frame so has a smaller reach for the same frame size - hence Mrs TJ rides a 16 on one but the myka at 17 has a shorter reach
Cheers that's very helpful.
The 17 looked about right, I was just swayed by the sizing guide.
Do you mean the H/T or full sus?
My missues is 5ft 7 and rides a 17" Myka H/T which is roughly 13.5" centre to centre.
Do not get the 15.5.
My missues had one and she felt like she was riding a kids bike. Shes about 5ft.5
This was the size specialized recommended for her but in reality it's to small.
Go for the 17"
Would echo what the others said about not going smaller. When I bought my stumpjumper (ladies) it was just as the Myka's were coming out so I had a sit on both. Even the 17 inch Myka felt really small to me, much smaller than the 17 inch (i think that's what medium equates to anyway) Stumpjumper I eventually bought. (I'm 5 foot 4 btw)
My wife is 5'4" - 5'5" and happy on a 15.5 myka hardtail, although I think a 17 would be OK too.
er in doors is 5' 2"/3" and has a 15" which fits fine, their range goes down to a 13" so the 15" ain't the smallest, horses for courses
im 5' 4" and I've got the 17, the stand over height is very close to be too big, but I wouldn't want to be on the next size down!
15 for my wife @ 5.4in, she was comfy on that because of the low stand-over and being short so she could sit more upright. She has some joint problems so we chose the smaller size for this reason.
My wife is 5'6" and rides a 17" Myka FSR - to be honest it's a tiny little bit small but not far wrong...
With the spesh womens' geo, throw out everything you think you know about bike sizes based on seat tube lengths.
Thanks everyone.
My mind is now at rest.
Looking forward to being able to ride together again since both our bikes were nicked nearly a year ago. Shame her work does not offer C2W otherwise I would like to have got something better for her.
