4.3kg. ........... Including cassette and tubes and tyres. They are 29ers. Is this normal? Or overly heavy for xc usage.

hope pro2 evo +stans Crests apparently weigh approx. 1720g

I have a set built by Merlin - pro2 plus stans Arch EX with brass nipples which weigh just about 1900g on my digital scales.

Above weight was measured with axle adaptors and rim tape but no tube/tyre/cassette/skewer or rotors

Do folk get that the original poster is including tyres and cassette in the calcs?

What brand hubs/rims are they? Roughly speaking wheels/tyres/cassette etc do weigh about 1/3 of the total bike weight, so it sounds normal to me.

Call it 600g for tyre, 200g for inner tube, 300g for the cassette, 300g rotors. That leaves you 1kg for the wheel/skewer, which is quite normal.

Well I just weighed my full rear wheel at 2.5kg and it's a lightweight hope pro 2 evo and stans rim, xt cassette, bonty jones tyre and lightweight tube and skewer plus avid rotor. Your wheels seem fairly lightweight to me for normal use.

Why not just run some bathroom sealant round the rim and do away with the tyres and tubes ? 😉 As for the cassette change it for an 11t cog, and whack a 55t single up front.
