You want a gnarpoon shirt? As the copyright holder I could bang some up, £25 to you sir and I will deliver within the next 14 days (*)
(*venusian days)
Actually that's a much better idea. I'm a designer and I have a t-shirt contact if you're interested!
and the Ill-Wind Bicycle Co is born 🙂

Damn fine idea. You really should do it just to wind them up 'cos I bet they think they have the comyright to grnarpoon when infact its prior useage on here means no copyright is possible IIRC

You can’t polish a turd
so you may have thought...
I’d buy a gnarpoon t-shirt from the Ill Wind Bike Co
So a quick question - do they actually have any frames in stock? As looking at the website you can currently order & pay for the Deathwish & Wulf?
To be fair to them the other displayed frames are pre-order.
i think the gist PrinceJohn, is the endless pre-order loop several customers are seemingly trapped in. Very few seem to land in customers hands and there are some here who believe its all a stage managed con. And a lot of aggro when things like "where is the product i paid for/its been many months now" are raised with he company.
To be fair to them the other displayed frames are pre-order
Pre orders normally have a promise date, which they normally run over on from what we've seen here. Some stuff was listed as in stock, then took months to arrive, if at all (before a refund was demanded/ignored/forced).
ps - not defending them, I was just having a look on their website.
Would also like a Gnarpoon t-shirt from Ill Wind Bike Co! thank you 🙂
T-shirt for me too please 🙂
I'd have a T shirt too.
Any chance the Ill Wind Bike Co can knock up some Mint Sauce keyrings too?
I'll have a Gnarpoon T-shirt from the Ill Wind Bike Co too, but it'll need shipping to France so can you make sure it goes before Brexit or it'll be slower than Sick! 🙂
#theressomethingonthebreeze
This needs a Binners design....
Gnarpoon t-shirt in large please. Could it also feature badgers, bombers a pair of weed in shoes and someone looking panicky following picolax ingestion please.
Sounds like something for Jim'll paint it.
Yeah; another Gnarpoon order here please!
The stack of frames and photo of Cnc dropouts is embedded in the mailshot that came out the other day.
I read it that they were at the manufacturer though so still not particularly close to being delivered, they’renot even painted.
I'm up for a shirt, if it helps I may be able to source a supply cheaper than the UK...line up for pre-orders!
This thread will never reach it's full potential unless one of the sicko's posts.
Setup account, upload design, choose colours. Order tees. Wear tees.
I have one on right now, I feel plush.
I want a T Shirt
But to avoid being sued , and to continue with the ironing of not geting what you are promised they had better shrink 3 sizes in the wash and have a pic of a man vommiting into a bucket
and come without a warrenty , a year + after ordering.
And be representative of the UK T shirt scene
If you want a t-shirt representing the UK t-shirt scene then you don't know the UK t-shirt scene.
Man!
I’ll also buy an Ill wind t.
🙂
Please someone start another Gnarpoon t-shirt thread so this one doesn't get derailed.
(But I'll have one too!)
A little unfair on the NHS imo,
I’d have gone with
‘This ain’t no Gnarpoon’
This aign’t gno gnarpoon. Surely?
lol at the demand for Gnarpoon Tees.
I wasn't thinking of including any reference to Sick btw - only to it being a STW/Northwind jokey thing.
Sick sold 15 on indiegogo, so let's see if we can beat that 🙂
If I come up with a design I like, I'll post it up on a separate thread and go from there. Might add a couple of £ donation to mountain rescue or something like that.
and the latest mailout from Sick suggests they will be at the London Bike Show. Much as I take the piss I'd really like to see some of their ideas such as Sleipnir or the now rather forgotten Heathen make it to reality. If they do make it to the show I will certainly be checking out what they are up to
I think the Gnarpoon T should have an image if a bike with the forks on upside down

Some inspiration for the T...

That truly is an illwind Gnarpoon.
Illwind Gnarpoon.
Teh awesome.
(Large please)
OMG I went away from this for a few days thinking the fuss was dying, but NOOOO....
So, Supply and demand, the people have spoken.
So let's do this.... Does anyone have t-shirt and or screen printing access or hookups? I'll market the t's on GG page of course. I'm sure a few of us can cover the first dozen t's that will immortalise this thread into Singletrack history.
Maybe we can initially start a conversation on ig with those who can help, as this forum format absolutely sucks balls to navigate due to ads and constant page reloads.
A wee talk to see what's accessible and doable, any profits from say a run of 20 T's can go to some young up and comer. Thought anyone?
I drifted away from this thread but boy am I glad I’m back. T shirt please!
There's already designers, printshop experts, and anyone else on here who'd piss a few t-shirts! It's been done before, no need for any external complications.
I will have a t shirt too, maybe I could order it in black and you could send me a pink one.
And maybe the printing could flake off really easily too...
Make them ludicrously oversized so they are longer, lower and slacker than anyone else’s shirts.
Of course, we'll need dozens of renderings of the t shirt in different colours to get everyone hyped, but only actually offer one for sale.
... and still not deliver it.
I think the design has to include the full stw gambit . A sudocreme covered cat riding a rigid SS bike . Flying a powerkite, with hand crafted coffee, a beard , en route to hospital having taken a sachet of picolax with 2 tower of London poppies in the front basket. Wearing brogues of course , maybe get a reference to Ling's p c p a Skoda Octavia estate obvs and magneto dog . Although this will end up looking like one of those crazy cartoon quizzes
Singletrackmind - It’s a while since I did a self portrait!
The above image needs to be in a plane on a treadmill.
Where's MrsSparkle when we need her?

You could give Sick a call
According to the live stream they are now making gravel bikes too
According to the live stream they are now making gravel bikes too
Is this making or scrating their arse thinking about making something. engaging the supply chain again.
I reckon Athertons will be overtaking them in sales (and variations) fairly shortly.
I've never experienced the exquisite agony of waiting for sick to deliver me something in the wrong size or colour, nor have I ever been insulted or stalked on the internet by Jordan but can I have a t-shirt anyway?
Any size will work as long as you design it on Drac's iPad.
Errrr, Drac’s iPad works, no evidence that ¡Sick! Do.
How do you get that upside down exclamation point? Did you borrow Dracs iPad?
¡Höld thê būttøñ dôwñ aß yōû typë ön yöûr smartphone!
¡You learn a new thing every day!
¡Cool¡
¿Oh
This is getting ridiculously off topic.
Have any Sick customers received frames, parts or refunds?
Has anyone designed a Gnarpoon t-shirt?
Have any Sick customers received frames, parts or refunds?
So have, some haven’t. From the look of GGs insta, he’s been sorted. There’s a chap on PB who has heard nothing, so is going to small claims.
Edit, All GGs insta posts have disappeared altogether. I’m sure he’ll be along to explain why?
Probably been legalled and gagged.
A wee dig at the haterz on here and pinkbike on their insta feed yesterday. I take it the qualification of haterz is A) age; as he keeps mentioning it. B) daring to talk about his shite business model?
The quote from instagram
also give a **** about single track and pinkbike forums if you wanna socialise with a load of hateful, spiteful old geezers go ahead.
To be honest, I don't think there's a lot of hate or spite on here. The old geezer part is probably more accurate 🙂
Personally, I'd love to see them succeed but just feel sorry for people paying upfront for product that doesn't arrive.
Their attitude on here and on social media in general invites ribbing and that's what we do 🙂
I think they just love creating stuff and are still trying to work out how to deliver. I just hope that they stop taking people's money while they iron out the kinks.

Probably more to do with being called out for acting like the couple of weapons grade belters they actually are 🙂
I’m younger than 3/4 of the directors.
The old geezer part is probably more accurate 🙂
It is, but trouble for Sick! is that they are the same people that have the disposable income to buy their frames. Probably not a great idea to insult your potential customer base...
I hope it works for them, they genuinely (from interviews and so on) seem like they want to make 'rad' bike frames, and have tons of new ideas. They just need to get the business model to catch up with the plans in their heads, I think.
I think they just love creating stuff and are still trying to work out how to deliver.
They could probably learn something about delivery from yodel 😉

I pointed this out to them on a stw fb thread. Got a torrent of abuse from Tim and the fanbois.
Got a torrent of abuse from Tim and the fanbois.
and then oddly the Kickstarter fell flat on its face #makesyouthink
Seems to me that they love selling and creating (i.e the fun sexy bit of designing and selling bikes) but are just bloody awful at the graft bit (the actually getting stuff in peoples hands, dealing with issues, etc).
You look at small frame companies when they start up that don't build their own frames, they tend to be one man bands initially, how many people have Sick got?
Cotic started with just Cy, how many people now? Still less than 5 I think.
Same goes for Stanton.
I remember when I bought my Dialled Bikes frames they were both pre-launch. Mike took a deposit, he said when they would arrive. IIRC the first batch was a couple of weeks late but Mike kept everyone informed and no one had an issue as far as I'm aware.
I'm not convinced anyone in Sick is out to rip people off but if I were them I would have a think about whether running a bike company is really for them.
Not entirely sure they understand their market, if they can actually deliver some frames and stop telling people not to buy their frames they might get somewhere. Sadly I think it'll grumble on for a bit then they'll vanish leaving a lot of people unhappy. If they're lucky they'll be added to the octopus/picolax list and briefly talked about now and again.
Just found the insta thread, still blaming other parties for their failings. Given the apparent aero industry background, they should really know that's not an excuse

4 directors. Started as 2 in 2017, another 2 came on board last year.
They've got a nerve always banging on about old geezers. They're all older than me and look like scruffy, tragic, acid burnouts.
Unlike most of their noisy little Instagram monkeys I've actually got the money to buy their frames. At this point I'd rather put Ralgex on my nads.
The fu/anti attitude doesn't work for mountain bikes like it does for BMX. Mountain bike components are too expensive (suspension forks, dropper posts, drivetrains etc) for anarchist young teenagers to buy into hence their socia media followers bigging them up but not actually funding anything.
BMX is affordable and anti establishment and does work for the approach Sick are taking.
I get the attitude and the image. I rode bmx for years and hung around in the local punk and metal scene. I totally get being obnoxious and anti-everything.
The difference is, you can't be calling out haterz and acting like you're too cool for school while doing EVERYTHING wrong.
I had some of the best times of my life riding BMX and all my old mates were penniless scumbags. But, when you paid your money for a frame or some bars you could reasonably expect that they actually exist and will turn up because the people running the companies were actually making the stuff. It's hard to preach DIY then blame your suppliers when you stiff your customers.
I am going to start a sports car co.
