What I'd like:

Big stopping power
Reliability
Not insane cost/worldwide hunt for every melonfarming part that needs replacing

Not fussed about weight, so much.

On a large Cotic Soul, with 130mm revs, mostly XC/trail, a spot of enduro.

Any suggestions?

Shimano SLX.

This.

or XT.

Mind, even Deore will seem far better than the Avids you currently have...

SLX. They're the same as XTs apart from one adjustment lever, and less shiney (good IMO).

Replaced my Juicy 3's with BB7's and just replaced these with Deore M596. Used existing adaptors and rotors. All good so far. Easy install, and no rotor/pad rub issues. Bonus is they are currently £38.99 an end from CRC.

Xt or slx can be found much cheaper than rrp if you shop around.

Tim - I've got a pair of Magura Louise brakes. Very little use. Could do a good price for collection. cheers Luke
