Just had the first ride on this today. Built up from some of my spares, a 2nd hand but unridden frame and forks and a few new bits. I'm rather pleased with it. It was a bit of a leap of faith as I had never even ridden a singespeed before this morning.

Gearing is 42:20 freewheel and 18 fixed when I pluck up the courage. It's hilly round here.

Looks lovely. Currently in the middle of building one of my own. These pictures are motivational in that respect! Thanks.

Very nice bike, I particularly like the bars 😀

Forgive my ignorance but what bars are they? and where could I get some?

Thanks 😆

Pretty similar to mine. Running fixed 39:14.
Get some mini v's on there, best value bike upgrade I've ever made.

That's jolly nice RestlessNative. I plan to build something similar (though with regular drop bars) in the new year. Just about to order the hubs and go from there....

Firestarter - I was the guy that bought your old pompino. Im sure you'll be pleased to know she is getting a lot of love & use commuting everyday. I also use it for some of the cycle trails here in cardiff such as the cardiff bay trail and the taff trail. They are fantastic bikes with a great feel and fun to ride. If I was to criticise one thing though it would be the toe overlap. I cant imagine riding fixed as you toes would plough into the front wheel on tight turns and you could not freewheel to prevent it happening. I can forgive that though as they handle so well. I prefer flat bars with bar ends to drops on them though.

what wheels have you got with what tyres?

Thinking my boring road fixie needs an update to a scary CX fixie so want to run some CX ish tyres, not sure my omega rims would take anything over a 28c...

The OP's are On-one Midge bars, to answer JAG's question above.

🙂

Frame £99, Fork £39 IIRC. Wheelset ~£120 plus the usual odds and sods to finish it = £bargain

Now with black grips & black salsa seatclamp:

what wheels have you got with what tyres?

Mine was a bit of a use up some spares I had build so the front wheel is a fulcrum racing 7 and the rear is an omega rim on a sealed bearing hub (50 from merlincycles)

Tyres are schwalbe landcruisers, bit heavy but roll really well

I had fulcrum front wheel, stronglight cranks, bottom bracket, chainring, easton seatpost, sdg saddle, seatclamp, fsa headset, chain and some brake levers sitting about. Frame/forks was 2nd hand off here (though unridden). The only new bits were the froggleg brakes, bars/stem, back wheel, tyres, freewheel and cables.

I didn't add it up but well under £300

Can't wait till the weekend to go out again 🙂

Went out on mine today. All on road. Only had to get off and push once!

http://app.strava.com/activities/30569039

Running 48x16 SS. Normally commute on 48x15 fixed, but its getting a bit tough as the winter approaches.

I love this bike. Got frame from eBay and scraped together rest of parts. A veritable bargain.
