Might just be a sweat spot,  either way there's a big tender spot right of "centre" in the crease between my butt cheek and back of my thigh.

Meant to be helping lead a 16 mile Christmas/charity ride tonight - just smother it in sudocreme and get on with it or keep off the bike a few days to let nature takes it's course?

Took me way too long to get the "cat spread" reference. I may need to search out the thread to refresh my memory...

On the skin or under it?

I had a massive lump under the skin same place as you, which was large enough that every long ride would aggrevate it and also cause issues on the skin directly above. It slowly built up over at least a year and became unbearable.

Changing all my saddles to ones with pressure relief holes has solved it immediately.

I get that to varying degrees all the time. Cat spread when it gets overly sore otherwise try yet another saddle. I’m just about to break in a Specialized S-Works Power, which came on my bike but is the same shape as the Power Arc and supposed to alleviate this type of sore…
