Just about to purchase my first full-sus mtb, which means I'll need to get some pedals. What do you suggest? I want something robust and as cheap as possible, preferably black, white or grey.

FYI - the bike is a 2011 Ghost ASX 5500.

Just got the V8 copy for mrs xcentric - excellent pedals, look good, and if you want to upgrade later, they're a good spare set. And you've not lost much if you really don't like them.

DMR V8's with the greaseport, they last forever.

Thanks for the comments, the Wellgo V8 copy look very reasonable at £13! I have a couple of questions;

What does V8 mean? What does 'copy' mean?

As you can see, I am a complete novice!

Cheers

DMR make the original V8. Wellgo make decent cheap copies. The main advantage is that they are cheap and grip good. But...

* The grub screw in the grease port of mine soon became impossible to remove, and the loose bearings were borked in no time. The bearings have no seals and get full of water and crud. The V12's are basically the same but have a cartridge bearing that is sealed and still really cheap.

* The metal isn't that tough; I've broken the cage part before.

* They are quite thick which is less comfy that the modern thin designs

* Some big footed folks don't like small size - I don't mind that myself.

Pay a bit more and you can get SS Nanos or Wellgo Mags which everyone rates. I like the nylon Nukeproof Electrons but they aren't everyone's cuppa.
