so my new (old)frame arrived and I couldnt(cant) wait to ride it.
The bigger wheels I had to get for it were ok bar the rear bearings, so I ordered them off ebay- delivery was stated thurs-saturday (Ester weekend)
Put my shimano cranks in, they flopped about. On investigation they had a BB30 bottom bracket (30mm), thats a new one on me. Looked online, theres a couple of options, called LBS, they said Id have to bring the bike in to get the right one.
So they didnt have one, and I found the bit online at Halfwits, but it couldnt be instore until today ,wednesday. Got the call so went to pick it up,it was the wrong one. The pic on their website was right, the description too, but they supplied the FSA 386EVO version instead of the FSA 30-24mm one. It scanned to show the one I wanted. Got a new one ordered there.
Still waiting for the bearings to show up
So if you didnt see me at the usual place over the weekend, now you know why

Definitely do that. Anyone who tells you not to is a sycophantic, bullying little weasel.

so, the converters showed up at halfwits, they looked like I thought they would, and I fitted them, so they were too big. I dashed back to halfwits, to pick up the original ones they sent, (even though they didnt match the picture on the website, and what all my trawling the internet told me,)so they fitted perfectly.but the label was wrong.
and the replacement bearings were sent out again, so got the wheel built up
It was too narrow for the frame! Id used the 135 x 12 adapters instead of the 142 x 12
I put the 11-46 cassette on, but it fouled the XT rear mech, so I tried the 11-42 which also hit the rear mech.
I had a cheap goatlink thing off ebay, but it wouldnt bolt on to the mech hanger(hole in wrong place?)
So I put the Zee short cage rear mech on with 11-42 and it worked!!
The 26 inch 55s are on the front, with 27.5 wheel, until I can get something better( may be a long time)
The dropper didnt fit, but I have a new one on the way
So Im out for a test ride, as soon as the wind dies down

Which CEO was that? all of them?

So you tried to fit a 24mm shimano spindle in a BB30 shell and the blokes at halfords are halfwits?

What a charmer you are!

I’m just imagining the staff at Halfords rolling their eyes when the OP walks in and saying
“it’s that bloke who always thinks he knows best again, you serve him!”

I'm hoping that Disney pick up the film rights for this epic saga, god knows they need something new now that Star Wars and The Avengers series are concluding.

Never mind that, they then went on to put the wrong hub adapters in, it's got trilogy written all over it

What sort of clearance have you got with 55’s and a 27.5” wheel? Looking at it, I would have thought bugger all, otherwise I’d have tried it before now.
If there’re the RC3 Ti Evo 2 then I doubt that you’ll find much better - lighter maybe but not better...

Mmm - I only have 10mm under the brace with a 2.4” Maxxis DHR, so even if I could squeeze in some size of 27.5” tyre, any “advantage” would be just a “king’s new clothes” type of thing. That little extra on radius would be unnoticable, by me anyway.
Besides, I haven’t got a 27.5 wheel on a 20x110mm hub at the minute.
